Work will begin this spring on widening the two-lane, Highway 133, to four lanes from just north of Omaha to approximately 3 miles north of the Washington County line, near the Lakeland development.
The nearly 5 miles of new, four-lane highway will cost $23 million and take two years to build. Construction of a second segment northward to Blair, about 6 miles costing $30 million, will be started when the first segment is completed.

Even with the college closing and with higher gas prices? I thought that had pretty well stunted Blair's growth
Either way, if we get some federal money in a use-it-or-lose-it, there are probably worse things than widening 133

Besides Blair, the number of acreages around Blair is also really growing. The Street of Dreams was at Cottonwood Creek a couple years ago.
Blair and the surrounding area is growing and has really grown over the years. Â If you drive 133 at all especially during rush hour you would understand why this is a very good thing. Â Traffic is really bad. Â Plus there are a number of roads going off of it without a turn lane so you have to stop right on the highway.

Also there was a fatal car accident recently that really pushed the issue I'm sure.
