Dodge Street-Dundee
There was a sign saying there would be a meeting about Dodge St on April 8th at Dundee Library. I can't seem to find any specifics as to what the meeting will be about though, anyone know?
This is the best I could find:

Apr. 9, 6:00-8:00pm: A public information meeting on the pedestrian-area improvements along Dodge Street from 52nd to 50th Streets. The project will remove and replace the curb and gutter section along Dodge Street and widen the sidewalk through the project corridor. The project will also rebuild driveways impacted by sidewalk improvements and reconstruct retaining walls to limit impact to private property. The intent of the meeting is to present the design aspects of the proposed project, gather input on the plan improvements and provide a time line for project implementation. Dundee Elementary located at 310 North 51st Street in the Library

Just need to tear down the theater.Omababe wrote:49th to 50th is where something needs to be done! Most people just enter the theater from the parking lot in back. But you're right, it's scary to walk along that sidewalk. The cure is worse than the disease though.Omababe wrote:49th to 50th is where something needs to be done! ...and then they were gone.

I still say the best thing for Dodge Street east of UNO is to take out a lane, enforce the speed limit, and re-zone to force any new development to be pedestrian oriented.
As it is you have what should be the main artery of urban renewal solely dedicated to moving commuter vehicles ten hours a week.

While that would be amazing I think limiting Dodge is less likely and less beneficial than getting rid of the 1-way streets and pushing more revitalization east of 40th street. Then once you've created a higher population/stronger tax base in east Omaha. There might be the political will to tackle Dodge out to 72nd street.Big E wrote:I still say the best thing for Dodge Street east of UNO is to take out a lane, enforce the speed limit, and re-zone to force any new development to be pedestrian oriented.

What they should do is run an express lane tunnel under Dodge from Memorial Park to Saddle Creek, then turn ground-level Dodge St. back into a two-lane local road going through a neighborhood. Traffic would still be able to flow east and west, and this section of Dundee would get it's pedestrian friendliness back.
