I live on Dodge street so I didn't see what affect the lane closures had on other arterials but it really seemed like the 3+2 combination is excessive. Maybe we could revisit the oddity and turn the middle lane into a turn lane. Would probably avoid a quite a few accidents a year due to clueless drivers.

I spent the weekend in KC and their BRT line is really cool. Â Basically during the morning rush hour have large busses running in their own dedicated lane on the south side of the street. Â During afternoon rush hour busses get a dedicated lane on the north side. Â With the middle lane both ways could have 2 lanes of traffic all the time.

That is a really great idea. Â Since Metro already has a significant commuter route (with park-and-ride and promotion to go with it) along Dodge, that would be a fantastic addition. Â With some real BRT lanes and traffic light overrides, it could be pretty attractive during the morning and afternoon rush when traffic is bogged down.

Happened to see that Military was open to 132nd so I checked it out tonight. I use to drive this stretch of narrow Â every morning on the way to work. There was very little shoulder and what was there was full of holes and ruts. Now it is still a single lane both ways but a turning lane in the middle. It is very nice. Â They have put a stop light at the corner of 132nd and Military which with the turning lane I don't think is necessary but maybe traffic off of 132nd will pick up.

I believe with the addition of houses out to around 156/168 and State a few years ago that the traffic on Military is noticeable now at rush hour.

That is very true - I noticed that during the time I drove Military -- but not as many were turing onto or coming from 132nd

Happened to drive up Ames today from N 75 and they are resurfacing (grinding up the blacktop) Ames from 29th to 42nd --- they are done on the north two lanes. It has been long overdue on that section. Now I wonder what they will do from there to 72nd.

They have been doing a lot of work downtown lately. 10th got resurfaced really quickly and they have Farnam torn up right now.

With 10th St down to one lane those chariots sure clogged the traffic good over the weekend.

Just before 10th Street they did part of 19th, 20th and part of St Mary.

One road I wish they would repair is Ida from Irvington to Blair High Road. All they have done for years on this piece of road is patch the potholes that appear on the patches of potholes of the patches of potholes...

I contacted the city hotline and they said it was the county's and the county says they cover the road from Irvington to the bridge

Does anyone know why Jones St from 11th to 13th has never been fixed?

I messed up and drove down that stretch last weekend forgetting that it has always been bad. I looked at Google street view and it was terrible all the way back in 2011 and 2007. Without driving all over the road at 5mph I would have messed up my car.

I have always wondered this as well. I love the brick streets, but this is one of the worst in the city. It appears that they have patched some of the areas near the manhole covers in years past, but that 2 block stretch is horrible. It is even difficult to walk down.

Jones Street: 11th Street to 13th Street $3M

This project will rehabilitate the brick street on Jones Street between 11th Street and 13th Street. This project was identified in the 2006 Historic Cobblestone/Brick Pavement Rehabilitation Study.

Even though it is 4 years away....that would be great if they rehabilitated the street instead of putting asphalt on top of it.

Omaha council OKs $3.7 million in street resurfacing projects; more could follow this year

13th St, Deer Park Blvd to Bert Murhphy Ave, J to Kavan

Also, 60th St from I-80 to L St.

Money for the resurfacing is from federal earmarks, so no city funds will be used. Here's the list:

- Highway 64 (West Maple Road), from Ramblewood Street (west of Elkhorn) east to 108th Street
- Highway 64 from the Benson Business District east, then south to Cuming Street
- L-28K from the Benson Business District northwest past the south side of Benson Park, past Marian High School and continuing to 90th & Blair High Road
- Highway N-133 (90th Street) Dodge Street north to Blair High Road, Blair High Road to Interstate 680

It is now September and then still haven't touched Ida Street.

I drive L-28K (Military Rd) every day, and the stretch from 72nd to Fort is in excellent shape, especially compared to roads like Ames Ave between 72nd & Fontenelle. I wonder why this is slated to be resurfaced already when it clearly doesn't need it? Perhaps they're going to be rebuilding the curbs as they are in deplorably condition?
