The sign is up.  Fat Burger is opening next door to the China Buffet in Miracle Hills.

Never went to the other one.  How does this place compare to the other new burger places in town?

Quality wise, they are about half way between Culver's and Freddy's on the low end and 5 Guys/Smashburger/Blanc Burger on the high end.  And price is about halfway between those extremes.

New Fatburger Location

Post by phewson »

A new Fatburger appears to be opening on the east side of 114th St, just north of Dodge.  It's in the strip mall, a few stores down from near Clancy's.  The Fatburger sign is already up.

I also hear there is one going in the plaza area across from DJ's Dugout in the 114th area. Definitely Booming.

"Fatburger" has to be close to the top of the list for bad restaurant names.

(Anybody else remember "Chubbyville" from the 1970s?)

The absolute worst in my book, however: Ground Cow.

Tastee Inn and Out in Sioux City was always pretty unappealing to me.

I LOVED Ground Cow.  Cheddar Steer & Au Gratin potatoes.  Heart attack on a plate but who knew back then.  It was great.

I'm having a hard time even remembering dining there, but I was referring to the name as being bad.

Speaking of heart attack on a plate, one of the latest fads in Las Vegas is the Heart Attack Grill.

http://www.heartattackgrill.com/

Stuff like fries done in pure lard, a milkshake with a pat of butter on top (sounds disgusting!), real sugar Coke, etc.

If you're over 350 lbs you eat free.

I wonder how many refuse to "weigh in" when dining?

The national media recently picked up on an incident where a person had a heart attack when dining there.

I'll take that over the high-fructose corn syrup garbage any day.

Of course, most of my unnecessary sugar intake comes from the distilled stuff, so I can't talk much.

Last I knew, that ice cream shop in Dundee served Mexican Coke which is made with real sugar. Also Walgreens will occasionally have it.

Another option is Kosher For Passover Coke. Any supermarket with a Kosher section should have it shortly if not already. Try Baker's.

Funny story about Fatburger.  An local media outlet asked them for an interview and the owner basically said "I don't need to talk to you, this place is going to be so popular that I will have lines around the block"... Two failed attempts later, guess they were wrong.

Most HyVee's have Coke from south of the boarder with real cane sugar available all the time.

In addition, Throwback Pepsi and Throwback MtDew are cane sugar if I am not mistaken.

Well that didn't last long. I wonder if it's the location or we're at a saturation level with burger joints. I'm leaning towards the latter.

No. Sure he is correct.  Fat Burger closed and then a second Burger Star was to open in the location. I neve actually saw it open though so it was quick.

Seems odd to sell the equipment.   It's not like Cutchall won't open another restaurant.

Too many in the immediate area.  Low end: both Mickey's and BK.  Middle: Clancy's.  High: Stokes.  Why go there?

Yep, Fatburger Closed and it Changed to Burger Star rather quickly.  I am fairly certian Burger Star was open two weeks ago when I went to Feta's for a Gyro.

My be they are selling the equipment because it was the fatburger equipment?  I could also think of tax reasons to sell everything there for a loss.  Finally, storage fees are not cheap...
