Fast food nets around 10% profit on average, and I think the full-service type restaurants are about half that. 20% would be incredible (net margin)

Some Chinese restaurants actually did better than that.    I know at least 2 Chinese restaurants in Portland, Uncle Chen, and Marco Polo Garden (now both defunct, Uncle Chen being defunct way before Marco Polo Garden), where the owners starting with nothing, but only about 30 grand,  became multi-millionaires, net asset in less than 8 years in 1980's dollars.

Both one shop restaurant, no chain.

I suspected as much when I had their Mussel with butter pondue.  (They really should have called cioppio, it would have been closer to the description.   Some picky diners like to trash nice food if the description does not match their pre-conceived notion of what particular 'title' a certain food should have.)

Sure beats Orsi's or Rottelas's.

I finally made it to Block 16 today for lunch. The weather was nice and with only a 30 min lunch I thought I had time to make it from the Landmark Building. I had tried once before but the line was out the door. Today there were probably 10 people inside so I decided to give it a try.

I am glad that I did. Food was amazing. I had the Block Burger with fries. I was deciding on going to Burger King or here, and I definitely chose the better of the two. The meat actually tastes like real meat and the lettuce, tomato, etc was all very fresh. The fries were hot and slightly crispy. I will definitely be back!!

Block 16 turns 4 years old today.
I was at the Orpheum for Alton Brown on Thursday and he said Block 16 burgers are US top 5, that if he lived in Omaha he would visit them every day.

Alton Brown's favorite restaurants from a cross-country trip

USA TODAY wrote:Block 16

Brown calls the Croque Garcon his favorite hamburger in the country. It's made with a 1/3-pound burger, cheese, ham, a sunny-side-up egg, mustard and truffle mayo on a ciabatta roll. He says it has the perfect meat-to-bun ratio. "They've turned the hamburger into high art," he says.

Glad to hear that! They are a great restaurant, and must becoming a destination DT eatery, which has needed more space since before they opened.

Thanks for posting!

Found myself getting all amped on this news and then I remembered I don't work downtown anymore. It's been a little over a month and I still miss being downtown. Argh.
My old signature got too old. So old it was getting almost as old me as me. Yeah, it was up there in years.

Sounds like a reason to come downtown, then :)

Just to expand, their post also stated:
"We will be posting concept use of the bay, including special events, pop-ups, showcasing our formal cooking using large format seating, take-out solutions and additional seating/square footage."

Block 16 owner accused the customer of being racist which then caused the customer to delete the bad review. Reddit goes onto claim it has happened multiple times.
