De Leon's Mexican - Omaha Locations

Going into the old Godfather's space on the SEC.  It's not open yet, but they're doing work inside and there is already signage outside.  Sign says it's open 24 hours - anyone know anything about it?

Many locations in Lincoln.  They're big on the after bar hours crowd if that's any indication on the food quality...

Yeah, DeLeon's is definitely catering to the post-bar crowd. I've heard conflicting reports about it but generally reviewed as great drunk food.

I have eaten at the North 27th St. location in Lincoln.  The food is much like Abelardo's.  Nothing fancy but delicious nonetheless.

I eat mexican several times a week and I'm telling you this place is absolutely bottom of the barrel horrid.

The joke in Lincoln about DeLeon's is that almost every time a local gas station/convenience store, strip-mall tenant, etc. goes under, DeLeon's is there to rehab and reopen them as one of their shops.  They've grown quickly, ten or twelve locations in Lincoln (I think they started here), in the last few years.  Most, if not all are open 24 hours.  Their labor, real estate (of the places I've seen) food ingredients, etc. has got to be low.  I've never been in one, but of the people I know that have, most all say the breakfast burrito is good.  That opinion and the fact they're open 24/7 means popular drunk food.

Their chicken burrito is good.  The food quality used to be really good when there was only one out on west O street in the trailor park (not kidding).  I remember we would go there at 1 in the morning and there would be a line a block long for the drive thru.

Yeah, the food is basically Abelardo's, that's not a bad thing just saying that is what you should expect.

DeLeon’s

Ace cash express, just south of Mama's Pizza, will become a DeLeon's Taco Rico.

They repainted the exterior of the DeLeon's Taco Rico building (Former Hot & Now building)

Dining review: DeLeon’s offers vast menu and cheap, tasty street tacos that rival South O’s
Sarah Baker Hansen - World-Herald staff writer wrote:DeLeon’s has a menu that takes some keys from South Omaha food trucks and some from Americanized Mexican menus. Ultimately, though, it checks the most important boxes, especially for late-night drive-thru cuisine: It’s cheap, fast, flavorful and filling.

DeLeon's has a very similar menu to Abulardo's. The food tastes about the same, too. Which is to say, muy bueno.

And that is a high endorsement! i will have to try this place out then. I thought it was just another 'Taco John's' but if both you and Sarah give it a thumbs up...

I guess then, that this is a huge plus for the Saddle Creek development and the UNMC food prowl, and with the new hotel just starting up (and maybe a second hotel coming afterwards) a nice range of options.

Qdoba, Wild Hog, Panera, Mimi's all the way up the Salween and down to La Casa this stretch of Saddle Creek is turning into a nice food Mecca!

Edit - I now see that this was pulled from the Saddle Creek thread...

Did the Saddle Creek DeLeon's just go out of business?

Many moons ago when I worked for Taco Bell, I was at this location when it was a Hot 'n Now.

Looks like the property is for lease too.

I see D'Leon's is opening another location in the southwest corner of 168th & Harrison. Their website says "Coming soon."

Also, is it "De Leon's", "DeLeon's", or "D'Leon's"? They all seem to get used interchangeably.

I swear that D'Leons on 114th has messed up my order nearly a half-dozen times in a row. Nobody else in the family has this issue...but I never get what I ordered when I get home. (And my wife doesn't understand why I don't want to go there again.)

I saw a DeLeon’s sign yesterday up on an old LJS building near 84th and Hascall.
I think their food is interchangeable with Abelardo’s. Basically Mexican street food served indoors. It certainly isn’t gourmet Mexican cuisine, but you get what you pay for.

Yep. Have to agree here. Messing up my order and their food is not at Abelardos' level as others have said. Tried the 114th street location several times and ordered simple things like tacos only to have them screw it up. They are off my list as well.

Yep. Abelardo's, Lina's, and D'Leon's are all very similar.
