New brewery to open in Benson
Cara Pesek WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER wrote:Bill Baburek, owner and general manager of Crescent Moon, Beertopia, Huber House and Max & Joe's — confirmed Wednesday that he bought a building at 6115 Maple St. in April. Baburek said he expects it will be a year or more until the brewery is open for business. Aaron Bush will be the head brewer at the yet-to-be-named brewery, Baburek said.

The Benson area has definitely become "hot".  I wish these new businesses every success.  We are occasional guests at Krug Park and Leo's, and look forward to trying Lot 2 and the new Peruvian restaurant, among others.

Abandoned brewing system salvaged from Old Market hideaway

http://www.omaha.com/article/20121204/M ... t-hideaway
Janice Podsada WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER wrote:Who knew that behind the brick walls and frosted glass of the Blue Sushi Sake Grill in the Old Market there dwelt an abandoned brew house, including a 7-foot-tall brew kettle and a grain hopper half-filled with stale, 5-year-old barley?

Bill Baburek, the owner of the Crescent Moon Ale House, knew — that's who.

Cool Story!

Is it the camera, or is it really bright in there? I tend to spend much more time (and money) in a place with a bit more subtle lighting. Not sure why, I just feel less comfortable in a place brightly lit.

Other than that, it looks like a nice enough place.

Based on the motion blur of the lady in the foreground and that there is barely enough light to illuminate the ceiling fan blades I'm willing to bet it's just a longer shutter speed

Benson is the real deal.  Infusion is just adding to the incredible transformation that Maple St has seen in the past few years.

Brad and I went to Infusion last weekend and I have to say that I was very impressed. Yes, it is financed by Crescent Moon, but the Brew Meister Aaron Bush is the man behind the scene. He started home brewing 16 years ago and is trying now to 'infuse' his beers with all sorts of tricks. My first flight included (from L to R) Radial IPA, PB & Joel Porter, Puddle Jumper and the Butcher Block. His Porter and Jumpers will be seasonal series, and he will have taps going elsewhere of all but one of these, I can't remember. All his beers were excellent, and I do mean excellent. (Peanut butter, coffees and I heard of a blueberry soisson We tried the Storz Trophy Room before this (we were going to Borgata's afterwards but they are closed on Sunday and Mondays) and were really, I must say I was REALLY disappointed with Storz, had the flight there and couldn't finish any of them they were so poor, so Infusion was a great find, and I will return to try many of their new craft beers. You can get his beers in Boston Rounds as well as Growlers. Nice homage to the former meat market and other older breweries in Omaha, he will even give classes on beers and Omaha.

There was a story?  I must have missed that.  I just though it was a way to showcase their "Icebox Series" of beers, which were amazing!

That is all that it was' the ice box series, they were out of two only had one left (did he say they used 7 gallon drums) and I didn't try the one they had left...

I love how this place is a beer first location. Benson Brewery is nice and has good beer, but Infusion is beer beer and more beer. All the taps are their own and they are very knowledgeable about their brews, will be back here a lot.

Wow. Glad you all have had good luck there. I couldnt even finish my flight of tasters. Had to go drink some homebrew from my friends garage to get the taste out of my mouth.

Also made it back to Infusion last night. They were out of the radial IPA so I had a Second Base IPA and a Joel Porter. Another good experience at Infusion.

Not positive, but I am fairly sure the OWH food critic was in there last night.

1. Second Base IPA.

Farnam and and I think one of the others was there too, Scratchtown may be?

I didn't know there was a Great American Beer fest, but after checking out the floor plan on Thursday, what an amazing event. Wish I was out there! I am not sure the CenturyLink Center is big enough to hold it!

It is on my bucket list. Know some people that have gone and they said it is a blast. Can't really beat Denver's beer scene.

I was at a Teacher event at the Durham tonight and Infusion was serving the alcohol. I tried the Unclearly Wheat and Olsen's Amber Ale -- they were both good although I preferred the Amber Ale. :D
