Color Run

Post by jessep28 »

I didn't know this was happening until today. Did anybody go? It just seems like your typical 5k run except at various stations they throw colored dust at you.

Yup, i was there.  Fun times.  A much more party atmosphere, less focus on the run.  It wasn't even timed. 13k runners, a bunch of first time 5k runners and majority female crowd. Lots of folks in costumes.

My only complaint was that they weren't prepared for the heat. Only 1 water station  out on the course, and they ran out of water at the finish line. Between the 95 degree temps, and that many people running their first race, people were dropping like flies. I think i heard 3 ambulances, and lots of people complaining.

We were down there and I had many friends running it (with 13k people running, I think everyone knows someone who ran it).

It was promoted pretty well at first but it sold out quickly which is why I think some people never even heard about it.  It was a neat event, but it still blows my mind that 13k people are willing to shell out $50-60 each to run 3 miles.

It was a really fun group of people to work with.  They clearly enjoy their jobs, as they should.

Its all the "Gimmik" runs that are selling out.  Warrior Dash, Mud Run, Color Run, etc.

I think the Glow Run is coming up next.  Like the Owl Ride, but running.

Looks like a good time. (Note to self: To avoid seeing thousands of pictures of people covered in mud, don't check facebook from September 15-17.)

Yes. Newspaper articles about project cancellations/additional parking lots being built downtown. And European Towne Centre.
