Post by iamjacobm »

According to Benson's facebook Ted and Wally's is opening another location in Benson.  Sounds like this building.

For as mind-boggling good as T&W's ice cream is, I've never seen a business less serious about being a business in my life.  Every time they take an order they have to walk 30 feet round trip from the counter to the cash register, and you cross your fingers they can remember what they were doing with your money in their hand.

It's just bizarre.  If they weren't putting crack or whatever it is in their ice cream I'd never consider putting up with it.

That being said, hopefully this one works out better than Dundee.

No Ted and Wally's Ice Cream in Benson, owner says

Sarah Baker Hansen, World-Herald Staff Writer wrote:Despite lots of celebration on Facebook and Twitter, the owner of Ted and Wally's Ice Cream says he isn't planning to open a second location in Benson.

"I am happy for all the excitement, but it's not going to be happening any time soon," owner Joe Pittack said.

He said he purchased a building in Benson under his own name, not the company name, at 6023 Maple St., and he's planning to use it for storage.

Lol, what's he going to store there; his Christmas decorations and old magazines?  Is he one of those old eccentric guys who amasses a collection of derelict antique cars?

As a resident of Benson, I was so excited about this announcement until I found out that it will be nothing more than a great waste of useable commercial space along the booming main drag. I am boycotting T&W and will do my best to convince all my friends to do the same until something of value opens up at this location. Or maybe I'll rent out the old JLofts showroom downtown across from T&W and store junk there.

New Ted and Wally's coming together slowly but surely. Probably aiming for a Spring opening.

Ted and Wally's is still chugging along, its got to be extremely close. There was grading and more dirt movement at the mixed use bank project.

Localmotive wrote:GRAND OPENING ANNOUNCEMENT: Friday, March 4 will officially be the Grand Opening of Localmotive Express, our first brick-and-mortar retail location! Localmotive Express will feature a wider variety of Rounders and frites, and it officially introduces the Mac & Cheese Rounder as a permanent addition to our menu. It retains all the main aspects of our brand: quick service food with a focus on quality, local ingredients.

AND, as fate would have it, March 4th also marks the 4-year anniversary of our first service, which also took place in Benson (yes, it is crazy, and no, it was not planned)!

We invite you all to join us in celebrating our new concept, tailored specifically for this Ted & Wally's-Localmotive collaborative space! See you in Benson, Nebraska! Right on the corner of 60th Ave. and Maple, at 6023 Maple St. OPEN AT 11am!

I don't know what I am more excited about, Ted and Wally's ice cream in Benson or a permanent home for Localmotive!
The big question...open as late as the truck?
Localmotive Food Truck and Ted & Wally's opens at 11am everyday. Close at 10pm weekdays and 11pm weekends during cold months, and close at 11pm weekdays and midnight during warmer months...
I was told this morning that the 'warmer months' begin at the end of May... Memorial Day weekend?

Looks like Big Green Q food truck is moving in to the old Localmotive Brick and Mortar space in May. The truck has been parked outside on a regular basis lately and they have a Craigslist ad up for workers.
