And demo for the existing tree?? That's too bad. Mature trees give such character to spaces.

How incredibly stupid. Who in their right mind would want to sit on a south facing concrete downtown sidewalk in the summertime if there weren't shade trees?

You can thank the bright minds at City Hall for that. Did the same planters with the "native grass" alongside Douglas behind the Highline.

I can see removing the tree and crating the new larger planter boxes, but I can't imagine whey they are not planting new trees to replace what's removed. I will say, that with the one and only tree being east of the patio, it wouldn't do much good on a summer afternoon anyways.

Those are rain gardens. These look like maybe 4 foot tall planters to shield people sitting on the patio from the vehicle traffic.

Borgata will soon be serving foods from local establishments, Grey Plume, Boiler Room etc. (I will have to ask Zac again what these will be) and it sounds like Locomotive will be setting up camp behind them and selling their foods out front once this arrangement is finalized!

Stopped in to fill a growler last night. The Octoberfest was so popular, it was gone before October even started. Had their imperial stout while I was there and it was even better than their oatmeal stout!

That's good to know! Since all our stuff is in storage, I haven't been able to stop in for a growler lately.

Good luck with that one - there is a Brick Street Brewing Co right across the river in Woodbine, been meaning to try it out myself.

I really like the Borgata name. I wonder what they are going to do with their mural on the wall in the inside.

Brickway is a nice alternative to Borgata think it will be as catchy as the original name.

Craft Brewers Are Running Out Of Names, And Into Legal Spats
NPR wrote:Virtually every large city, notable landscape feature, creature and weather pattern of North America — as well as myriad other words, concepts and images — has been snapped up and trademarked as the name of either a brewery or a beer. For newcomers to the increasingly crowded industry of more than 3,000 breweries, finding names for beers, or even themselves, is increasingly hard to do without risking a legal fight.

Speaking of growlers...

A couple weeks ago I was in Brickway and they still had "Borgata" growlers if you wanted a collectors item.

Nice, they canned that IPL. That's a nice easy drinking summer beer for people that want more flavor than a Bud Light. I got a growler of it last weekend.

In pretty sure you are to young to remember the Falstaff no name local beers from yesteryear. White cans with a generic black "Beer" stamped on it. I think it was like $2.50 for a six-pack...
