We did a "tour de taco truck" last December for our family's Apre Christmas party. Â Dos de Oros is the best taco truck on 24th street.Linkin5 wrote:Exactly, if you want real great tacos go to a truck or establishment in south O.Coyote wrote:Yeah, I learned my lesson, I'll go to Azteca if I want a real non-24th St taco...Axel wrote:Or at real Mexican restaurants

The truck on Leavenworth at the Avanza parking lot was our last (and my least favorite). Â We did Dos de Oros (which makes Albuquerque quality Carne adovada and therefore is the best taco truck.). Our first was Maria Bonita's (sp?). Â They made great carne asada. Â They were a close #2. Â The Avanza truck was a distant third.
This year's event is a night at the Bowlatorium at ICC with Ritchie's chicken and Lithuanian Torte and pastries from the International Bakery.

Re: Voodoo Tacos
Ate there at the NebX location at it was amazingly good. I went back there a second time after shopping a bit. Maybe need to work out a few kinks, but the food rocked!! Highly recommend.
Re: Voodoo Tacos
Voodoo taco's twitter post supposedly is a clue to where the third location will be.
It reads. "New location. Will we help raise the child or be the idiot?"
So Arksarben Village or Village Pointe or ?

Could they be going to Lincoln and filling the void in the Railyard that is open with the Jack and June Closing that I just posted in the Lincoln Yard thread?

About a month ago my wife and I were at Voodoo Taco with some friends and were told they were opening "3.0" in A/V.
Re: Voodoo Tacos
I still don't understand how this place is expanding so fast. They don't even make their own tortillas, support the real Mexican joints in town.

Re: Voodoo Tacos
I don't either. I went when they first opened and was not impressed. Too expensive for what you get.
Granted I am limited to what I watch on tv and listen to on the radio, but I have not heard or seen a single advertisements for them.

I can top that I have never been there. Been close enough to the one at the outlet mall to get a smell though. Does that count for anything

I was hoping to give their food truck a try sometime as I hear they park in Benson a lot, but I have yet to see them there.

No. As reported earlier, Spirit World is taking most of the former Wohlners closest to W Center.Linkin5 wrote:The entire space?!
Re: Voodoo Tacos
I worry too about rapid expansion in new restaurants but think Voodoo has done an incredible job at marketing and getting their name out there.. most people here in town know the name. I have spoken with the Owner ( while he was busing tables at the NEX location.. very rare indeed ) and he makes sure all of his locations are running smoothly and really is putting in the work necessary to make each of them a success. There is a certain style a Restaurant owner must have and this guy has it.. a true down to business and make sure that above all his customers leave happy no matter what kind of guy.. tacos are damn good too!

It is interesting to skim through the posts from a year ago and see how people's viewpoints have changed... maybe some times we jump to quickly and don't give a business a chance.

Re: Voodoo Tacos
They don't even mention on their website that they even sell beer. When i was at their a Fort St location I remember a meager selection of regular beer taps, but that was within the first opening week.

Re: Voodoo Tacos
Been thinking of trying their Dark Wednesday
Dark Wednesday!
Lagunitas Brewing Co Nighttime Black IPA, (8.2% ABV.,) or Brau Brothers Ringneck Braun Ale, as well as Tallgrass Buffalo Sweat Stout, 1/2 off Drafts all night long!
I think it changes week to week

Damn that was fast! This place is expanding at an incredible rate.. pretty soon it will be an Omaha institution if the quality of the food never changes.

Re: Voodoo Tacos
I waited for a few weeks before trying this Voodoo place out, until they caught up with all their opening day mess-ups. I was at their 90th St location its first week and was very unimpressed with the place, so I came here expecting the worst of it.
This one has a great location, and upon arriving (even though I had seen the blueprints months ago) I was very impressed with their layout, even though it appeared smaller than I was expecting. You are streamlined right to the ordering station (which probably needed on more register), and even though there is a large menu overhead, you need the hard copy to really make your decisions.
As I wrote, I have already tried their 90th St. location and their 2.5 Food Truck, so I was looking for something a little different, and saw on their Facebook page that the Taco of the Month was the Marley (Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Cilantro, Cotija Cheese, Jalapenos, and to top it off Grilled Mango) That was a piece of Taco Mastery! I could have used just a little more Mango and a little less Jalapenos, but that is Voodoo...
I also tried their Barbacoa Beef (shredded beef, bbq sauce, Cajun fried onions, Cotija cheese and Cilantro), though I received mostly the beef and bbq sauce. it was good, but needs a little tweeking, or maybe I didn't get the whole enchilada (sorry). I also wanted to try their side of rice and beans, I was shown a larger than I received (a circular bowl instead of the larger rectangular one shown to me at the counter), and had to get a Deschutes to wash everything down (did I mention they have some really good beers on tap?)
I wholly expected to wait 10 to 20 minutes for my order, and even though there was a nice crowd this Saturday afternoon, I received mine in about 5 minutes. I sat at the window seats watching traffic go by Stinson Park and construction happening at the new UNO Arena, instead of choosing a booth or several open tables near the entrance.
For two tacos, rice & beans, and a beer, my order totaled $18 which wasn't too bad... I will be back though, I will watch their Facebook page to see what their Tacos of the Months are... and their new beers on tap!

Re: Voodoo Tacos
Thanks for the report. I also attended their grand opening of their first location, and went away very underwhelmed. I haven't been back, but this location is closer to me, so I may have to give it a try.
