Loess Hills Wine Festival set for Saturday
. . . The fourth annual Loess Hills Wine Festival is set for Saturday at Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park, and organizers are wrapping up preparations. . . .

The event will feature five western Iowa wineries – Prairie Crossing of Treynor, Sugar Clay of Thurman, Vine Street Cellars of Glenwood, Prairie Hawk of Council Bluffs and Wabash Wine Company of Shenandoah – along with craft brewery Keg Creek Brewing of Glenwood. Each will offer samples of their wares.

Hayrack rides and a grape stomp are also on the schedule. . . .

Organizers expect around 1,500 attendees at the event, which will begin at 2 p.m. with an hour dedicated to VIP guests – the cost for a VIP ticket is $50, which includes the first hour, a shorter line for wine tastings, a T-shirt and VIP parking.

Three bands will entertain throughout the event, JB Acoustic from 2 to 4 p.m., MoJo Bag from 4 to 6 p.m. and Pink Kadillac from 6 to 10 p.m. . . .

However the event could still use a few volunteers, able to work a four-hour shift – 2 to 6 p.m. or 6 to 10 p.m. Volunteers receive free entry to the event, along with the wine glass and a T-shirt. For more information go to the Western Iowa Grape Growers Association website, Weigga.org.
