They just posted their menu: 9th Street Tavern and Bar Menu: Yelp
Went here for lunch today. Â It was good. Â We got a little worried when we walked at noon and nobody was there. Â Then we asked "Whats on tap" and the server didn't know... The old "aaaaaaa bug light, miller light, coors light, and and and and and...." Â But after that speed bump, everything was great! Â
Apps we had Wings and Brushetta/humus dip with peta chips. Â Both good, but the Brushetta/Humus dip with peta chips was great!
Entrees we had a "Flagstaff" pizza which was great! Â A "Italian Beef" which was also good. Â The only disappointment was some Runza like things. Â The flavor was fine, but they were a little lacking on the filling...
We were there over an hour and only one other customer came in. Â hopefully its better for them...
I would go back again.

Had lunch here today. I had today's special, Buffalo Meatloaf (wrapped in Bacon) mashed potato open faced sandwich.
As Brad suggested- their signature dishes are the Flagstaff Pizza (Grilled chicken, roasted peppers, onions, corn, black beans, pepperjack and chipotle cream sauce) and their Italian Beef (provolone cheese with giardiniera). Those runza things are their Bierocks.
Had a great barkeep/waiter. He knew every tap, and had a great converse on beers. They will be getting new Microbrew taps in soon, two Deschutes (can't remember which - Mirror Pond and Black Butte?) and he talked about getting some local micro brews. Talked to the owner. They will use the east side as a conference room, Courtyard across the street doesn't have one, so they will be renting it out on an as need basis. They are working on a website to post the daily specials. Tomorrow's dinner will be Lamb in Guinness... Yesterdays was Buffalo Meatloaf, hence today's luncheon special ($8 ).

Tonight's Visit was no where nears as good as the first visit!
We walk in to an absolutely empty bar. Â There was a party of 3 sitting at the bar and it was so quiet in there that you could literally hear them chewing their food.
Ordered drinks, both beers came out with ZERO head on them. Â Then we order an appetizer with no problem. Â Then when it was time to order food, that's when it all went downhill. Â My wife ordered a pizza and asked for no beans on it and I ordered a Buffalo Burger. Â Waitress says "we don't have that anymore". Â So I pick a regular cheeseburger. Â server says ok and walks away, comes back a min later and asked what kind of cheese I wanted. Â Comes back a min later and says we can't make that pizza without the beans. Â My wife said "They made it for me last time without beans". Â Server leaves and comes back and says its all mixed together. So my wife picks a Quesadilla instead. Â Food comes and the Quesidilla has the same mix on it as the pizza with the beans! Â My burger looked tiny, but tasted fine.
Manager came out and talked to us. Â He said Buffalo increased in price so much, they would need to raise the burger and extra $5 to cover the cost. Â He said they are looking at plan "B" instead. Â Probably a philly.
He also said he was going to talk to the chef about the beans. Â Not on our account, but that several people have requested them left off.
Cell Phone Shots from tonight:
Quesadilla (I think it was deep fried, which seams un-necessary)
Cheeseburger (looked small or had a big bun)

Re: 9th Street Tavern and Grill
My wife and I went here after the Creighton game on Saturday night. The place wasn't nearly as busy as I thought it may be after a game. I got the Bierocks (which are like mini Runzas) and my wife got the chicken strips. Each came with fries and were $8. I thought the Bierocks were very good. Overall the food is well priced when comparing to other bar food.
Re: 9th Street Tavern and Grill
Rumor has it this place is on its way out, but its replacement is already in the planning stages.
While I wish the new folks luck, this location might be damned until Shamrock more cohesively ties the area together. Close to everything, yet hard to get to from everywhere. People just can't figure out how to get to the parking/front door, despite seeing it from 10th st.

Re: 9th Street Tavern and Grill
From what I know this rumor is true and the concept that will replace the existing restraunt is something very unique for the area and very, very awesome IMO. Should be a concept that will FINALLY allow this location to thrive.

Re: 9th Street Tavern and Grill
I am a little surprised, since as I noted in a previous post (10/31/13) after talking with its then new owner he was assured they would do well there even without the knowledge of Shamrock coming next door. But like Ben suggested, unless you know how to park behind (on the East side of) the building you may just pass it up for something more convenient. Too bad for that owner, but I will be looking forward to whatever this may turn into...
Re: 9th Street Tavern and Grill
I'll put it this way (again, from what I know)... what's being planned for this space is something that I can't believe doesn't exist here yet, and people who live here who appreciate it (of where there are MANY of us) and also people who vist who appreciate it (of which there are MANY of them) will undoubtedly make a point to go there. Assuming this place advertises the way it should (and the way I've heard they are planning to), it will generate a ton of interest and shouldn't have any problem attracting patrons, regardless of parking or location. If things go as expected, I think they are planning to be open by the CWS.

LOCAL Beer, Patio and Kitchen (9th & Dodge)

I love the concept. A bar at this location needs to be unique as the building is off the beaten path. It's still my favorite building for a bar so I can't wait to see the finished product.

Re: LOCAL Beer, Patio and Kitchen (9th & Dodge)
Great concept. I always wondered why this hasn't happened before, besides Too Far North, and Nebraska at the Market in Urban Storage, there really hasn't been a place that offered your local products...COMING APRIL / MAY
LOCAL Beer, Patio and Kitchen is a bar with fine food and the largest selection of local craft beers in the area.Get ready for a welcoming environment with some familiar games, a beautiful patio, delicious food and local brews curated by our own Certified Cicerone®.
Re: LOCAL Beer, Patio and Kitchen (9th & Dodge)
It wasn't that long ago that all the Local Brews were in the brew pub format (Upstream, Lazlos, Etc). Now with Lucky Bucket, Borgata, NBC, Etc, all having big distribution operations, its now a lot more practical to have a local bar specializing in local beers.Coyote wrote:Great concept. It wasn't that many years ago where it was almost impossible for a bar to open that didn't have Bud, Coors, and Miller on tap and survive. I think Attitudes have exponentially changed in the past several years.

That layout is nearly identical to the predecessor. Just replaced a couple of comfy chairs with a big table on the east end of the main dining space. Also looks like they're outfitting the former deli/market space with overflow seating.
Re: LOCAL Beer, Patio and Kitchen (9th & Dodge)
The "game room" idea is a nice touch with the adult sized connect four. Make it feel almost like a brewery tap house.

Re: LOCAL Beer, Patio and Kitchen (9th & Dodge)
I wish this new restaurant/bar success, of course. The location does seem to have its challenges. Lots of bars and restaurants in the area feature large selections of microbrews. Whether the beers come from only Nebraska, or from across the country, or across the globe, people can only drink so many beers in one evening...and craft brew drinkers tend to prefer quality over quantity, from my observations. I'm not sure that a bar/restaurant that restricts its beer choices to Nebraska only beers will succeed where others have tried and failed. I guess we will know in about two years.
Speaking now for myself, as a craft beer lover, I look forward to trying out new (to me) options in my travels. I tend to search out locally brewed beers when I am out of town. But when I am in Omaha I don't much care about where a beer originates. If it sounds interesting, I am apt to try it. Then again, I just might "settle" for another pint of Guinness.
I will only add that I expect the food to be at least as interesting as the beer selection if a place wants to see me return. I only drink on a full stomach.

Re: LOCAL Beer, Patio and Kitchen (9th & Dodge)
While visiting KC, I read today where the metro's newest Whole Foods is opening with a Taproom that will feature 12 draft beers from local KC area craft breweries. It will be a bar/live music venue within the Whole Foods building. Whole Foods is rolling these out nationwide, and this is about the 200th location to go in. I have no idea if/when they will install these in their Nebraska stores.
