I walked by here yesterday. There was a banner over entrance and I think the name was Parian. At least some combination of most of those letters.ItsAllAboutMe wrote:New Mexican bar & Grill will be opening in the Space. I didn't catch the name but it's posted outside the entrance.

My old signature got too old. So old it was getting almost as old me as me. Yeah, it was up there in years.
Re: Maria Sangria

Re: Maria Sangria
So is this going to be an actual restaurant or a trainwreck where people occasional use a hotplate to heat snacks?

The links work, they just change the bottom of the page, so you have to scroll down. I like the words "family friendly", which I hope translates into "thug un-friendly"

I'll set the over/under on the first shooting tied to this place at 3 months after opening and I'll take the under.
BTW, upper floors still proudly display the word "Diamonds"... Who owns this god forsaken property anyway?

Re: El Parian Bar and Grill (Maria Sangria)
So what's with all the negativity? Not one person is going to give this place a chance? What do you want to see in this spot? What's going to succeed? Why will people get shot at this Mexican restaurant when they don't get shot at Roja, Michael's, and Trini's? Why do people still think this is going to be a club?

Henery was talking specifically about the council's 4-2 vote in favor of Lieb. His concern now is about Lieb's recent history as owner of Aruma Lounge. During that time, the lounge was marred by fights between customers and a dispute with police officers, according to public records.

They just need to quit making that bay a bar.

It's been what, a half a dozen bars now? Outside of probably having commercial kitchen appliances inside it doesn't seem like the greatest spot for one. It could be converted into retail and serve a better purpose I bet.RNcyanide wrote:They just need to quit making that bay a bar.

El Parian Mexican Restaurant will open with a celebration Tuesday
Re: El Parian Bar and Grill (Maria Sangria)
Do we have any indication on how much of this place will be dedicated to being an actual restaurant? More than 15%, unlike the last incarnation?

So it's been a month since the last post. What is going on with this place? Anybody eat there yet?
Re: El Parian Bar and Grill (Maria Sangria)
Were going to have to bust out the nested parentheses on this one, because El Parian is now Cancun. Is this place cursed to have Spanish themed failures for all eternity??

I think you mean Latin themed. Spain is nowhere near Mexico.RNcyanide wrote:Were going to have to bust out the nested parentheses on this one, because El Parian is now Cancun. Is this place cursed to have Spanish themed failures for all eternity??

Yeah but the last two were 'Spanish' themed, no?Omaha_corn_burner wrote:I think you mean Latin themed. I don't know, El Parian was Mexican, and I think Maria's was Spanish.
Re: El Parian Bar and Grill (Maria Sangria)
I thought they had more emphasis on being terrible 'restaurants' rather than any locale. I give this one less than a year.Omaha_corn_burner wrote:I don't know, El Parian was Mexican, and I think Maria's was Spanish.

Re: Cancun (El Parian/Maria Sangria)
I only know of Maria's as a dance club.....I didn't even know it was a restaurant.
Re: Cancun (El Parian/Maria Sangria)
I was in there once, regrettably. I believe they tried to sell themselves to those in power as a restaurant, but only about 25% of the space was for dining. It was like 3 booths and 5 tables with a kitchen window in the corner.Omaha_corn_burner wrote:I only know of Maria's as a dance club.....I didn't even know it was a restaurant.

Had an ad in my facebook feed that Orangetheory Fitness is opening a downtown location, and lists this address as its location. Looks like the hispanic restaurant theme for this space is finally broken. According to one of their replies on a comment they are looking at an early spring opening. I couldn't find a separate thread for Orangetheory if we have one.
