Re: Aksarben Center (72 and Pine)
I know it isn't technically part of Aksarben Center but does anyone know what happened to the development of the Venice Inn site?

MODERATOR EDIT - POSTS MOVED TO CORRECT THREADSome sort of work has started on the old Venice inn site. There's a big pile of dirt, construction equipment, and storm sewer pipe on the site .

Re: Venice Inn (closed) For Sale
Nearly $275K TIF request for the 12K SF building.
Re: Venice Inn (closed) For Sale
Also I am sure everyone will love the name of the development...Aksarben Pointe.

Re: Venice Inn (closed) For Sale
$275K for that little space?
Is the real name of this location "Aksarben Gives the Taxpayers the Shafte"
The unnecessary terminal e is like lube.

Re: Venice Inn (closed) For Sale
Laughable and infuriating. What exactly does it take to NOT get TIF in this city?
Re: Venice Inn (closed) For Sale
Total project cost is about $3.2 million. The TIF request here is a lower % for the entire project than HDR FWIW.
Re: Venice Inn (closed) For Sale
Reading the TIF document, looks like the they've got Legend's Bar and Grill opening a location here, a Re/Max real estate office, and a 3rd TBD tenant space.
Re: Venice Inn (closed) For Sale
I wonder if you could get TIF for a home kitchen or bath remodel, if you're in a "blighted" area?ThatGuy wrote:Laughable and infuriating. What exactly does it take to NOT get TIF in this city?
He said "They are some big, ugly red brick buildings"

Warren Buffett lives in a Blighted Neighborhood. Do you think he is getting TIF for his new fence and security cameras?GetUrban wrote:I wonder if you could get TIF for a home kitchen or bath remodel, if you're in a "blighted" area?ThatGuy wrote:Laughable and infuriating. So a 1 floor strip mall?iamjacobm wrote:Total project cost is about $3.2 million. The TIF request here is a lower % for the entire project than HDR FWIW.
Re: Venice Inn (closed) For Sale
I think a mixed use development would be better for this area. I would think there would be plenty of demand given it's nearby a ton of shopping, Aksarben, and UNO.
Re: Venice Inn (closed) For Sale
Agreed. Omaha could use much more mixed-use developments, pretty much everywhere east of 72nd.daveoma wrote:I think a mixed use development would be better for this area. I would think there would be plenty of demand given it's nearby a ton of shopping, Aksarben, and UNO.

I have been wondering the same thing. Every time I drive by there, nothing has changed. I know that Brad recently posted that there is a city ordinance that signage has to be removed or covered up. This is one site where I am ok that the sign is still there.

Re: Aksarben Pointe (former Venice Inn Site)
No, I was just being snarky. The City of Omaha gives very little info when a plan is submitted. For this New Building they just said "Retail & Restaurant." The Site Plan for 3902 Harney they just say 1 building. They had a Site Plan for where Tiger Tom's is, a month later we find out it was just for an outdoor seating area.choke wrote:Was this plan scrapped?

I've not been to Legends for years after my last 2 visits weren't that great. Used to be really good when the Cherry Hills location opened,

Former Venice Inn Site
Just noticed this morning that there are some bulldozers pushing dirt around on the plot that Venice Inn used to be on near 72nd and Pacific. Anyone know what's going on?

In a WH story about Clancy's, it was noted that this shopping center is expected to be completed next March. http://www.omaha.com/money/clancy-s-pub ... 699a3.html

Looks much too big to be a single restaurant.

They are making rapid progress on this building. But it still seems much too big to house only one restaurant.
