Darn. I was stating to think they were going to keep it since it stayed up so long...

I yeah, I'm sure someone paid a pretty penny for it.

The support colums are still there, so my guess is that they kept it so they could grandfather in the sign.

The Venice Inn sign looked in sad shape when I saw it last week. They had a few holes punched in it...maybe they were trying to replace some of the lighting, but it definitely needed some refurbishment.

It looks like they completely removed the poles for the Venice Inn sign as well.

That's about as bland of a strip mall as I can imagine.

Does anyone know when Legends is opening? At 6:30 tonight there were lots of cars in the parking lot but the sign still says 'opening soon'.

That would be nice. It would be a lot closer for us than 117th and Blondo.

I would much rather have Venice Inn back, sorry, even though Le Peep is probably one of the better ones of that genre.

I was crushed when I found out some time ago, that La Peep was just another chain. Are there any good local brunch places? (I hate Vidlak's by the way)

(okay, just possibly answered my own question... Overeasy any good?)

Over Easy is the creation of Nick Bartholomew who also has the Old Market's Market House and does the Dandilion Pop-Ups. They make home made pop tarts at Over Easy and they have a great menu. I haven't thought long enough but I would put them on the top of my list for a local breakfast place... Nick is a Millard West and UNO grad... But don't forget:

11-Worth Cafe
Kitchen Table
Sadle Creek Breakfast Club
Early Bird
Lisa's Radial Cafe
Harold's Koffee House
Bailey's
Shirley's Diner
Billie's Miracle Hills Cafe
Leo's Diner
AJ's Diner

My last Le Peep visit is what made me change. Maybe they were having a bad day. Not a big deal.. I only do breakfast dining a few times a year.

We checked out the new Legend's last week. Nice place. Seems a little smaller than the Legend's in Cherry Hills but this one had some party Rooms in back that I did not see, so it could have been just as big.

I've tried it twice. Never again. Just didn't do it for me. And, the 2 times we were then the service was awful.

My only qualm with First Watch is how insanely busy it can get.

I love the bold design.

The daring red brick with the thoughtful stick-on beige stucco panels. This is the sort of work that blurs the line between "architecture" and "fine art." This is a building that says, "We, Legends, care about the appearance of our city. We take pride in what we do."

And the architect - clearly inspired by Howard Roark himself - executed an uncompromising vision. He or she must beam with pride at the mere mention of this structure. THIS is why people study architecture in the first place!

If Legends cares about food as much as it does about design, our taste buds are no doubt soon to be overwhelmed with delight.

-wild applause-

I went to the Le Peep on 117th today, and asked them about Aksarban. They confirmed the location, and said it should be open sometime in September.

Went to Legends for the first time. Pretty good, I'll probably be back.

Le Peep has their signage on the building, and they are working inside. Should open soon.

If there is an open bay at Aksarben Pointe, I think a place called Sushi Bowl is going in here.

There is an open spot between Legends and La Peep. Not sure how big it is.

Trenton Magid, on Grow Omaha, mentioned that he had a friend opening a Poke (cubed, seasoned raw fish, usually ahi tune, that originates from Hawaii) bowl place at this location. He no further info, but a Poke place wouldn't need a whole lot of space.
