I know it isn't technically part of Aksarben Center but does anyone know what happened to the development of the Venice Inn site?

Here is the latest Brad mentioned:
Some sort of work has started on the old Venice inn site. There's a big pile of dirt, construction equipment, and storm sewer pipe on the site .

Nearly $275K TIF request for the 12K SF building.

Also I am sure everyone will love the name of the development...Aksarben Pointe.

$275K for that little space?

Is the real name of this location "Aksarben Gives the Taxpayers the Shafte"

The unnecessary terminal e is like lube.

Laughable and infuriating. What exactly does it take to NOT get TIF in this city?

Total project cost is about $3.2 million. The TIF request here is a lower % for the entire project than HDR FWIW.

Reading the TIF document, looks like the they've got Legend's Bar and Grill opening a location here, a Re/Max real estate office, and a 3rd TBD tenant space.

I wonder if you could get TIF for a home kitchen or bath remodel, if you're in a "blighted" area?

Warren Buffett lives in a Blighted Neighborhood. Do you think he is getting TIF for his new fence and security cameras?

Neediness doesn't appear to be a factor.

I think a mixed use development would be better for this area. I would think there would be plenty of demand given it's nearby a ton of shopping, Aksarben, and UNO.

Agreed. Omaha could use much more mixed-use developments, pretty much everywhere east of 72nd.

I have been wondering the same thing. Every time I drive by there, nothing has changed. I know that Brad recently posted that there is a city ordinance that signage has to be removed or covered up. This is one site where I am ok that the sign is still there.

No, I was just being snarky. The City of Omaha gives very little info when a plan is submitted. For this New Building they just said "Retail & Restaurant." The Site Plan for 3902 Harney they just say 1 building. They had a Site Plan for where Tiger Tom's is, a month later we find out it was just for an outdoor seating area.

Where can you find submitted site plans?

Just noticed this morning that there are some bulldozers pushing dirt around on the plot that Venice Inn used to be on near 72nd and Pacific. Anyone know what's going on?

They are making rapid progress on this building. But it still seems much too big to house only one restaurant.

It's supposed to be shops, not dining, from what I've heard.
