Old Country Buffet on 144th Center closing for good.

I ate there today and the sign on the counter at the cash register said they were closing March 23, 2014. The sign stated the landlord was terminating their lease. The employees told me they were not informed of any of this until they came to work on Monday March 3rd. This is pretty much the same way the Old country Buffet on 73rd and Dodge ungracefully checked out with little or no warning to the employees. An employee said the landlord was going to make the space now taken up by the Old Country into 3 separate spaces in the strip mall. This establishment has really gone down hill over the past 5 years. I figure I must have ate at this Restaurant at least twice a month for over 22 years, which adds up to over 572 times. I am going to miss the old gal but I will be all right!

Without justified cause I can't see a lease being terminated. Bought out maybe.

Isn't that the last Old Country Buffet in Omaha?

I ate at one (twice) when I was in Chicago back in October. It was just as good as I remember the one in Omaha being. Easily my favorite buffet and miles ahead of Golden Corral.

So there is a auction for the equipment coming up for the Old Country Buffet. The listing for this states that it is the combined equipment fro This location and a closed HUHOT MONGOLIAN GRILL. What HuHot closed?

The location at 114th & Dodge closed a few months ago. Technically it "moved" to North Park at 120th & Blondo, but they probably didn't take most of the old equipment to the new location.
