Have not been there. Still having acid flash backs from the Harkert's era. Aint enough zantac in America to keep that food down. So if they just renamed the joint, stay away.

They had a "Ribbon Cutting" yesterday with the Chamber so I am not sure if its new or they just took over?bigredmed wrote:So if they just renamed the joint, stay away.

Original owner Dino Meares died in '03, took over by Gina Werth, and then bought out recently by someone who owns other restaurant...

Yes, I'd guess I've eaten at somewhere around 50 BBQ joints over the last 20 years. This place and Ozark were by far and away the worst.Brad wrote:Blue's Smoke BBQ (4865 Center Street)

Re: Blue's Smoke BBQ (4865 Center Street)
Just to say something positive about it:
We ate (take-out) there today. I thought it was better than many in Omaha. We did not like the way Harkert's had been heading so stopped going there -- this seemed to be an improvement. I especially enjoyed the burnt ends, although they weren't quite "burnt" enough for my preferences. Burnt ends with their new sauce was a good combination. Ribs were above average. Sides were so-so. We would go back, which is more than I can say for other local BBQ establishments.
I regularly wonder why Jack Stack's doesn't establish an outpost here. They would clean up.

It appears that Blue's Smoke has closed and has been replaced with The Shack. http://shackomaha.com/
