I will not shop at Bakers. I refuse to have to carry a damn loyalty card to get the lower price.

Re: Omaha's Best Grocery Stores
How is that any different from having to clip coupons in the store ad?
Unless you pay for your groceries with cash, I'm not sure I understand any of the objections to using a loyalty card. If you use a credit/debit card...they'll track you that way. Some places can even track you with your check.
If you don't like carrying another card, you can either scan it with a smartphone or just enter your phone number in at the register.
And in the grand scheme of things, Bakers knowing that I buy a lot of milk, bread, and Totino's pizza isn't exactly a big hit to my privacy.

I thought all grocery stores had loyalty cards?

Re: Omaha's Best Grocery Stores
Saturday I walked into the Aldi in Bellevue and the first thing I pick up to look at is a bag of soft taco shells and there is 2 bugs crawling across the front of the bag. I left and did not buy anything. I felt bad as I knew I should not of been in that place and should not of needed those bugs to remind me of it!

Who's the leader in Omaha's competitive grocery market?
Barbara Soderlin - World-Herald staff writer wrote:In Omaha, Walmart took in $31.60 of every $100 spent on groceries in the area in 2014 at its Supercenter, Sam’s Club and Neighborhood Market stores combined. That was up from $26.90 two years earlier, according to Chain Store Guide estimates. The estimates are modeled for the local area based on average store sales.
Hy-Vee lost more than a percentage point of market share in that time, and in 2014 took in $18.60 of every $100 spent on groceries in Omaha, compared with $19.90 two years earlier.
Re: Omaha's Best Grocery Stores
Are percentages not cool anymore? Yeah, let's express market share as a dollar amount out of $100.

Re: Omaha's Best Grocery Stores
I was surprised that HyVee wasn't higher, but when you count all the supercenters and neighborhood stores, Walmart outnumbers them by quite a bit just in number of stores.
I am glad for the consumer that we have so many. Competition is good for keeping prices low. I lived in eastern iowa and outside of a few walmarts, aldi and fareway, you only had HyVee to choose from. I don't think the deals were as good as we see here all the time.

I live a couple blocks from Harold's Square No Frills, and that place is declining in the competition with the Neighborhood Market on 90th. They need to do a hard remodel to the whole square or it won't keep up.
I think this would be a great opportunity for Spartan Nash to join the Grocery-Gas business, as Steve's Service is trying to sell. Could tear it out and build sort of a Hy-Vee size gas station to generate some movement.

Why in the name of common sense would anyone use that service when they could have Hy-Vee bring the groceries right to their front door with a smile? I don't get it. I have even been getting e-mails from Walmart offering $10 worth of free groceries off the first time I use that service. I just delete those e-mails, Grandpa knows shopping at Walmart for groceries is for the suckers.
