The Komen Race for the Cure is leaving downtown Omaha, its home for 15 years, and will relocate this fall to Aksarben Village and the new University of Nebraska at Omaha arena.
The race expo will mark the first public event at the UNO facility, under construction near 67th and Center Streets. The Oct. 4 race, a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness, will wind through Aksarben Village and Elmwood Park.
The course is projected to start on 67th Street at Aksarben Village, head north through Elmwood Park and loop back to the starting area. The route is awaiting city approval.
