Any ideas for local restaurants serving this kind of food?

I would suggest Restaurant Y Pupuseria Salvadoreña on Vinton, which has great Pupusas, but the last time I was there my waitress knew absolutely no English. It took 5 minutes before I realized she was asking whether I wanted an item with Pork or Chicken. Another Salvadoran restaurant that was suggested to me was El Chalateco, on north Fort Crook, cheap papusas, but it isn't the best of places. There is Costa El Sol, on 84th just north of L. I haven't tried this place yet, but I hear good things about it.

As for the other cultural foods you mention, I can't say if I know of any authentic places.
