Anyone know why they moved this? I always thought having it right down by the Old Market is a great spot. I'm sure this spot will be nice when Capital district is open but having it across from a construction site is an odd choice.

Apparently its a "transition year"

Transition for sure. It seems a bit odd..

But then again next year, it should look fantastic at that spot...

The temporary spot is a little weird, but its not like it perfectly tied into the old Market anyway. It was set back quite a way from 10th St before.

I gotta disagree here. It had great skyline views, was easily walkable from the shops and restaurants on Howard street, had plenty of street and garage parking close and I thought it was cool to have something on the other side of the 10th street bars than just open grassland.

I don't think it was that far off 10th street considering on weekends the line would wrap down the 10th street sidewalk.

In a year this may be the perfect spot but this year will be a mess considering a lot of street parking is gone, and the 10th and capital area in general is a little discombobulated due to lane/sidewalk closures and construction trucks driving everywhere.

Yeah you are right about the parking....there is not really much parking close to where the temporary rink is going to be. On nights where there is an event at the CLink it will be cool, but I think attendance is going to be down quite a bit at the new location. As a side note, I would love to see some actual permanent development on the east side of 10th st by Con Agra's property, hopefully sooner than later.
