Wow. I forgot about Bronco's. I thought that left with Ross's Steakhouse. I guess that means its the last of the 60's/70's type establishments on 72nd st.

YES! I would get runza over broncos any day of the week, this is right near my house too. I think as a kid I had too much broncos and I never have gone back for a long time, too greasy.

I couldn't even begin to count the number of times I went to Broncos on 120th and Pacific when I was supposed to be in study hall on 120th and Dodge.

There's already plenty of Runza's around town. Bronco's was more of an original Omaha place to eat.

Didn't there used to be a Runza to the N of NFM on 72nd street not to far from this location? If memory serves me correct it was on the NFM side of the street and closed a bunch of years ago.

I do admit the few times I went to Bronco's it was really good. I could hear the cholesteral screeching through my veins.

When i was in grade school at st roberts on 120th and Pacific, we would always either walk to broncos or big freds, i think i definitely OD'ed on both

Hmmm. When I was at St Robert's Broncos wasn't there yet, But Big Fred's was and a pinball studio down the strip mall. But once you were dropped off you couldn't leave the campus - uh - which I always followed

So am I the only one who thought that Bronco's was horrible? :)

Seems like most of the locations I'm familiar with are closed... is Bronco's a done deal then?

In high school when I went to Bronco's it seemed their burgers were very big and very flavorful. I just remember having a few really good burgers.

There's still the one on Leavenworth. It's by UNMC.

I wish Runza and Amigos would open a location in Des Moines. Those are the two "fast" restaurants I make sure I eat at whenever I visit.

Runza is good. Used to stop at the one in Lincoln when driving back from Denver to Des Moines. Best Deli Wraps EVER.

I think Runza has gone down hill recently...They are trying to be too "cute" with all of these new products. When I first moved here 7 years ago, I remember Runza solely as a greasy burger-joint (and Runza's of course, which I had no idea what they were). Now it seems like they are skimping their burgers and adding a wider variety of salads and deli-wraps. I guess they feel the need to follow every other fast-food chain in the country with this carb-counting fluff. If I want a salad, I will make one at home...Somehow these fast-food salads manage to conceal 750 calories and 50g of fat.

Oh well, at least you can still get a Triple Kong in Omaha...and an immediate quadrouple bypass afterwards.

No. We agree on this one. I haven't eaten there in 25 years. The French Fries used to make me sick an hour or so later. The hickory burgers were okay, however.

I've never eaten at Broncos and wouldn't care if I never did.

LOL - Big E - that sounds very familiar. That same Broncos was lunch for us 3 or 4 days a week. Back then (mid 70's), they never watched the doors, we would come and go as we wanted.

But the 72nd street location was my first exposure to Broncos. I'm sorry to see it go.

A Runza is going in on the SW corner of 105th & Pacific, across 105th street from One Pacific Place. Did that Sinclair close?

Total news to me. I stopped in there for gas last week.

LMMS Properties LLC to Eating Establishment 105th Pacific, 10505 Pacific St., $835,000.

Runza must have know I was moving to the area! Wonder if they are going to close the 50th and Center location and move here? :;):

I live just west of Happy Hollow CC/One Pacific Place, and they are wasting no time in leveling the Sinclair. I had always heard this was happening since about the time I moved back to Omaha (July), but good to see it's actually happening.

So what happens to the old one on 72nd? That building is old, was Bronco's for ages.

Hopefully nothing. They better keep Runza there, especially after Pacific Life moves to Aksarben Village.

According to Google, the 50th and Center and also the 73rd and Pacific are both 1.3 miles from the new Pacific Life building. Looks like you are good to go!

From some of the posts here I expected the building to be gone, but it looks like only the tanks were removed from this property.

There's a new building permit for that address, so I don't see why the old gas station wouldn't be demolished.

I really miss that gas station/convenience store. Runza offers the wrong kind of gas.

Runza (50th & Center)

I thought we already had a thread for this, may be it was because we talked about it last time I was on Grow Omaha...

The Runza at 50th & Center is being town down and rebuilt. Been closed for a couple weeks now. Today they are putting up construction fence and one wall is already torn down and part of the parking lot torn up.

That one needed it. I was in it a few times when I worked near 24th & I80 and it was not a good condition building or layout.

I was in it last winter and wondering why they were kinda letting it go, but this explains it.

Are they completely tearing down the old one of just part of it?

Wonder if they will build the "new" design like is going up in Gretna. It is not done yet but looks different than anything I have seen anywhere. I was told by someone that works for the General that is on the Gretna project but is not working on THAT project that it is the first of a next generation Runza store.

On a Grow Omaha minute on KFAB they did say it would be the 2nd new design store in the state.
