I think the two remaining Golden Corals in the area are about to fold as well.

The one in Sorensen Park Plaza has a different management company. Why do you think it's going to close?

The 72nd Street location is getting dead. I doubt they are even breaking even so the question is "How long are they willing to lose money before they throw in the towel and close?"

Pizza Ranch wise guy! The casino buffets have all raised their prices to $13-$15 and their quality and selection is half of what it once was. With the Golden Corals closing that leaves Pizza Ranch as the go to place.

Lets not lump Cracker Barrel in with Golden Coral . While nether are top of the food chain there is a pretty good gap IMO. I was thinking the replacement would probably be some china buffet type place.

Sounds like we got us a closet Crapper Barrel lover on our hands here. I know lots of old skeets who go to the Crapper barrel once a week religiously. I go there about once a year.

Not so much a CB lover but a GC hatter. Will admit that I do go to CB about twice a year though soi I guess I like it twice as much as you!

Yes, but twice as much as zero equals......?

I have to admit I don't like Golden Corral either. Even with the basic things, they are never quite what you feel they should be.

From about 1985-1990, Wifey and I would drive to St. Joe occasionally to have Golden Corral. Back then, it was a lot different--and better--than it is now.

There was an actual menu, not a buffet. Wifey had steak, I had butterfly shrimp, we both had rolls, everyone happy. By the time the chain came to Omaha, they'd turned into what I termed "Golden Trough"--buffet, steak you could read a newspaper through, urine-fried clumps of undercooked shrimp. Not to mention the jernt turned into a glorified daycare and family reunion madhouse.

And that 'chocolate fountain'...I imagined that was an expensive flytrap.

Last time I went to one, Killeen, TX about 2.5 years ago. No need to go back and apparently in Omaha the decision has been made for me!

I admit, Cracker Barrel isn't for everyone, but I will say that no matter where you go, they're consistently good. They're for breakfast what Cheddar's is for dinner.

When was the last time you had a home cooked meal?

When did Noah build that one Ark thing? My guess is slightly before that.

I ran into a woman today who used to be a waitress at the Golden Coral in Council Bluffs. She said that a new owner is opening it back up around April 1rst, 2018. She told me that the previous owner was a woman who went bankrupt. She said the woman who owned it before had money problems for the past 10 years. Was the problem she was not making enough money to cover the bills I asked. No, she said the problem was the old lady was throwing her money away in the Casinos for years. She was not making payroll often and in the end stiffed the employees for the last 2 weeks pay.

I caught a few rumors flying around about the Council Bluffs Golden Corral. I said RUMORS now and nothing concrete. One rumor is that after a disparaging article about them came out https://www.businessinsider.com/i-ate-a ... tos-2020-9 the Council Bluffs Golden Corral quickly shut down for a few days. In the article the guy changed the name to the Covid Corral. After the article came out they closed down for a few days and then reopened again after moving a few tables further apart and demanding that everyone where masks as soon as they walk in the door. I do know that when I drove by they were closed on Labor Day weekend. I wonder if corporate did not shut them down until they could come in and check them out. I wonder if there was not a Covid spreader incident traced to that Golden Coral.
