They tore out the building at the one on 156th this week.

The guy that owns(ed) all 3 Hollywood diners was having a bit of financial problems. He also owns the  Country Inn & Suites Omaha west and the River City Star river boat all of which have not turned a profit. From what i hear the Diner at the airport survives mainly because there aren't any other restaurants in the airport vicinity there

I don't see how they could possibly fail with that model at 156th. or at 90th. and Maple, but keep the one by the airport open, the one which never seems to have any cars at it.

I must be missing something here!
The fail was quality and service.  My last 2 visits, one to each of the closed locations, was less than appealing.   Was always happy before.   Someone that works with my wife said the same thing.  They went as far as calling the home office, and did not get much of a response.

Signage is being removed from the building this morning. There is a "Receipts" permit listed on 10/6/2014.

Any ideas as to the new occupant?

I agree with those who ate there toward the end. The owner forgot one thing. The buildings were cute, the concept was fun, the decor was fun, the menu (in theory) was good. He just forgot that the quality of the food has to be good or great or no amount of cute makes it better. It's like a great hotel with bad beds. You have a bad nights sleep and you probably don't come back. You have a bad meal and whatever it's named doesn't matter.

Wasn't there a pawn shop on the west end of that strip before they renovated? Next to the liquor store...

I think so but at least it was tucked away a bit and not the focus of the intersection.. either way this area has changed so much I barely recognize it anymore.

I don't remember a pawn shop, but you can't swing a dead cat in that neighborhood without hitting a check casing business...
