Speaking of Jimmy Johns, the signage for the new restaurant going in at 84th and 370 is up.

It's also about what the sandwiches are worth. Other than delivery, I still don't get Jimmy Johns.  I've had it twice; pretty mediocre.

The line wasn't too bad. Things moved very efficiently if people paid attention and had their order and payment ready.

I went to the JJ's downtown and even though there were about 50 people outside the door, the wait was only 5 min.  They formed two lines and everything went smoothly.

The funny thing was that all the homeless by the library were eating Jimmy John's today.

I went too.  I took 10 minutes to probably move through the line of 50-75 people.  I've been to Subways where I wait longer than that and I'm the only one in line!

That's the beauty of Jimmy Johns.  They live up to their speed claim.

When it comes down to it assembling a sandwich has to be one of the easiest things to do in the food world.. You're not cooking anything and merely just putting things on bread.. Subway loses speed with toasting which I'm sure everyone gets done to their sandwich since it just tastes better..

Always toast. Italian BMT on wheat with extra American cheese, bell peppers, olives, jalopenos, banana peppers, lettuce, tomato, salt and pepper, vinegar and oil.

Boom!

Toasted with lots of peppers (and on an Omaha scale of hotness, at least 6/10 on the peppers).

If you have to eat one of these "sandwhiches", then Jasons's Deli, Subway, or our own Little King crushes that disgusting swill made by Jimmy Johns.  I have tried three of them and they all taste like they were using day old bread and had so few things on them that they basically tasted like stale bread with grease on them.

Frankly, why anyone would eat these when there are so many other things to eat in this town astounds me.

One small, stale sandwich set me back nearly seven dollars.

Today, I had to see a consult in the NICU, so I went to the Clarkson tower cafeteria (only thing open on Saturday) and got their Quesadilla.  Lots of food, not bad taste, and less than 7 bucks that you dropped on the Jimmy Johns.

I would have gone to the cafeteria here at Methodist, but usually everything is picked over after about 130, and I didn't get to eat until 2:30. The kitchen and cafeteria are being renovated currently so food options there are rather limited.

I love Razzy's but haven't been there in a lonnnngggg time. I don't like Gandolfo's but it is better than the disgusting nasty |expletive| that Jimmy Johns "serves" up.

Call me a contrarian.  I have never had a bad sandwich from JJ.  Better than Subway.  Nothing has ever tasted stale.

My last 2 trips to JJ, over the course of 2 years, the bread was hard.  Not sure if they changed their recipe to have a more crusty bread or, if the bread was just crusty.

So what must be going on is that they see me coming and give me the stale POS "food" so they can save the good stuff for you.  I am literally 100% on the crappy food from there.  That includes different stores, ordering online vs going there in person, and ordering different things each time figuring that I picked the wrong thing last time.   Just a regular stream of disgusting cr*p.  Stale bread, flavorless meat, the list goes on an on.

I just can't understand why it is still in business.

I  not sure why people just can't agree to disagree.  Everyone likes different things and has different tastes.  That's the reason every restaurant is different.  Go where you like.

That is fine.  The thing I don't get is that it is never even just an OK place when I have tried it.  On a 10 scale of 1 being nastier than a bucket of pus and 10 being the perfect sandwich, every place pretty much swings in the 3-7 range.  This place seems to be a solid 7 when others go there, yet when I go there, it isn't even a 3.

Most other places are not that consistently nasty.

From the amt of business they do you must be in the minority but that is fine.  Not everyone likes the same thing.  If you go again try their wheat bread that is sliced.  It is a nice change of pace from their "loaf" bread

I didn't know that some people considered this place the Taco Bell of sandwich franchises.

I am going to go out on a limb here and guess you just don't like JJ !   :;):

With many other options I would sugest you stay away.  I like them as long it is not an every day thing., but that can be said for many places.

Today is customer appreciation day. Subs #1-6 will be only $1 from 11 am - 3 pm. Only one per customer (although when I worked downtown, they let you purchase two)

One of my co workers said he drove by the JJ at 114 and Dodge and the line was out the door and down the sidewalk.

The line at the one just south of Dodge on 72nd was at least 30-40 people deep outside the door. It moved really fast though, I only had to wait 10 minutes to get the sandwich.

All the signage is already down for the Jimmy John's on the SW corner of 72nd & Giles...
How long has thus site been closed? Is it the first Omaha Jimmy John's to close?

I wonder if they just moved....I saw that one recently opened at 71st and Cornhusker right behind the new Fantasy's gas station and across Cornhusker from Sam's Club.

It just moved to the stand alone location on 72nd and Cornhusker. Technically, it didn't close.

The one on 108th & Maple moved across the street a few years back when the new strip mall opened. The pharmacy that was in the Ban & Save is also there.

Found out there was a sign that they moved there, same staff and all, and now there is a sign that says Red Sushi Hibachi in the bays window, with a liquor licence notice.

I've had Jimmy John's sandwiches a few times. They're pretty good. Nothing special, but I still like them. I've been enjoying their commercials with Brad Garrett playing sandwich mob boss Tony Bologna. I have a feeling they're trying to start up the sandwich wars again and hype them like those old Chicago-style mobster fights.
