I guess.  I saw the promo ad in the Help Wanted Restaurants classifieds in the Sunday World-Herald.

This Jimmy John's (SW corner of 72nd and Giles) is now open - on the south end of the strip that has Sports Clips - just east of Fareway. Mmmmm Jimmy John's!

Also the sign is up and construction finished for the Jimmy John's on 84th and Park Drive.  There were people working at 2:30am this morning...

I'd probably eat at that Giles Jimmy Johns location... but my lunch budget is now down to a 90 cent soft taco supreme and a free soft drink from the infoGroup soda fountain.

Looks to me from the style of free standing building that is going up there will soon be a JJ in Elkhorn.  The building in basically in front of the new  Menards near Burger King.

I am sure this is the Exact building that they built for a free standing location at   4115 Twin Creek Dr. and  1306 Harlan Dr., both in  Bellevue and at  places I know my way to at noon on occasion.

When they first came to town... I ate so much JJ... I got sick of it.  I've only recently been easing back into it. :)

I also ate it so often that I haven't been back in a few months, in my opinion there are too many of them being built or planned.

No way... The sando I eat is $4.23, they could replace every subway in town as far as I am concerned....

I agree.  Same goes for quiznos and blimpie...even though blimpie isn't too bad, i'd still abandon them for Jimmy John's.

So, what are your favorite JJ sandwiches?  Is this a good place to ask that?   I went there once, had no idea what to get so I got something boring... here I come to find out (from their website) they have a bazillion different combos I didn't know about.  That's what I get for going through the drive-thru my first time there, though.

The J.J. Gargantuan. Can't beat those 1008 calories. I would suggest not adding the bacon though.

#2 (Roast Beef), no tomato, add cucumber, add oregano.  It's the only thing I get there, and at 72nd & Dodge and 40th & Dodge, it's $4.01.  Amazing.

Number 5 here -- Vito --- and I paid 4.25 tonight --- why are different ones a different price?

#12 Beach Club:  Turkey breast, avocado spread, cucumber, cheese, sprouts, lettuce, tomato & mayo.  838 calories with the wheat bread, 796 with the french bread.  Just goes to show how many more calories we imbibe when eating out.  It's still my favorite though.  mmm...

I keep it simple: #4 (turkey tom) with cheese.  My fiance goes with the #6 vegetarian, no cheese (still delicious, and nearly everything i eat has meat in it, literally.  If they could cram steak in my raisin bran, I'd probably eat it :P )  My mom had never had it until yesterday (I got her a #1, pepe) and she thought it was awesome.  I've heard a lot of older people say that they are "young people" sandwiches.  I don't get it though.  The craze should cross all ages, social status', and gender.

I must be the only one who thinks Jimmy Johns is weak.  Been there twice, and each time it was blah.  Service was rushed each time.  I just don't get it.

I didn't like it the firs two times either, but once I found what I liked it is great.

I'd give them a couple weeks to let the new employees get some practice.  I ordered a Turkey Tom from the Park Drive location and it didn't taste nearly as good as when I order from the 108th and Q store.

Don't know what it was, but it definitely didn't taste the same.

I have heard that the JJ at 72nd and Giles will be moving to 72nd and 370, they feel the are not very visible at the Giles location.

Jimmy Johns opened their new 2nd location in Council Bluffs today. What a bad experience. We asked for extra cucumbers and onions - and zip, zero, nil. - Let's hope they get better. Not good news for a new place, on their first day.

yeah, the one on 17th & broadway does a superb job.  Come to think of it, i've never had a bad experience at a JJ

True, I have yet had a bad experience from Jimmy John's on 17th and broadway, so I can only hope that they get much much better. Mainly, because they are closer to home, etc. I did have one bad experience once, a year or so ago, from JJ near the corner of Dodge and 72nd street. But, I think it was minor compared to this time.

Yeah they did that last year as well and the Jimmy Johns downtown had a long line stretching out the door.

The start of this thread is priceless. First, you have StreetsofOmaha, of all people, absolutely raving about his first sighting of a Jimmy Johns in the area. (If you were here when Streets was active, you would know the irony in his elation of the first coming of the country's most commercialized, cookie-cutter, craptastic fast food options)

Then you have Omaha Cowboy explaining to the forum what a Jimmy Johns is.
