Coldplay @ QCO - Again (6/13/2009)

Post by papiostud »

They just announced there 2nd tour of X&Y.   Kinda!!  They're doin a contest and they're slowly announcing the cities.

They only show 10 cities so far.  http://www.talkthetour.com/   I'm pretty confident they'll be here.

Fantastic, I missed them when they went to Kansas but I knew it was only a matter of time before they came here.

I have also heard that Coldplay will be at the Qwest. That would be pretty awesome. I bet it would break the record for fastest sellout, actually.

Anyway, here's some fuel for the fire. My boyfriend works out at Village point cinema and one of his employees who runs boxoffice also runs boxoffice at Qwest Center and he heard from that person that, "A really big concert that will be a big hit with younger audiences will be coming, and the lead singer is married to a famous actress."

How's that?
"The right to have access to every building in the city by private motorcar in an age when everyone possesses such a vehicle is actually the right to destroy the city."

Ask a silly question.....

Seriously, who is Coldplay? I'm not familiar with the group's name, but I've quite likely heard some of their music.

OK, googled 'em, listened to 'em, recognized a few of their songs.

I guess I'm just too darn old to give a rip about their music - doesn't stand out above the crowd IMHO, but I'm not "hip" anymore I guess.....

Let's see U2 has been playing before sold out crowds since the early part of the 80s and have sold tens of millions of lps, cassettes, CDs, DVDs etc... Check back with us in about 25 years. If Coldplay is still around, only then we can begin to discuss their relative merits in relation to U2. Until then, they are the flavor of the day.

Nahh......I think they just missed out on the 8 Track but I'm sure there are a few 45s floating around out there.

Not many bands hang on for as long as U2 has and stay relevant I think it especially hard for bands to do so when thier fan base describes them as bigger or better than (insert name of rock icon here). with only a couple of albums to thier credit. Sort of like the kiss of death, and says a lot about the type of fan they're appealing too.

That's cool.

Too bad X&Y was a crappy "lite rock" album. Maybe Gwyenth pulled a psuedo Yoko there. I really liked their first two albums, and saw them at Red Rocks, which was a great show.

Anyhoo, I would be VERY interested in seeing Fiona Apple as the opener. The song "Tymps" off her new album has been in heavy rotation at my house!

I’m not going to sit hear and argue about this U2 thing it’s all relative, my point was merely that they are good. And well if you’re too old for Coldplay you guys had plenty of fogey bands play all ready you should be happy.

Besides, some of the best bands to ever play Omaha where at the sokal underground !IMO!

Can't say for sure if any U2 releases ever came out on 8-track, but they were making 8-tracks for several years after U2 made their first release - I have the "Purple Rain" soundtrack to prove it!

Edit - Just looked it up Liz Phair 12/8 Sokol - The Fray opens.

I also noticed that Z-92 is now playing local Omaha bands on Sunday evenings.

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!! I like U2 well enough but very, very few (popular) groups nowadays have any musianship beyond 1,3,5, or any inversions of it.

I am certainly very happy that Omaha got this concert, and if it works out for me to be able to attend, I will.
