I don't care for the burgers at either Culver's or Freddys. Both are so seared to the griddle when cooking they are almost burnt. Culvers does have many other great menu offerings though.

Culver's has quite decent burgers. Yes, they are a bit crispy sometimes on the exterior, but I like them. And their buns are just excellent. And Culver's has a rather extensive menu, with prices going well past $10 for some items.
Freddy's, like Culver's, specializes in frozen desserts. But that is where the similarities end. Culver's is miles better overall, with a much more diverse menu.
Honestly, though, if you want a great burger for about $5-6 skip the chains and head to your local bar and grill.

I would say it's more like Steak N' Shake...

Drove by Freddy's in Millard last night. Looked open, but apparently they were still training. Sign said it opens today.

I suspect that Freddy's will do well at this location. The area is not over-saturated with fast food and fast casual restaurants.

After driving by it for over 6 months I finally tried the new Freddy's in Millard. The burger was better then McDonalds or Burger King but the fries were just as un edible. I was given a huge portion of fries and I could only eat about a fifth of them before I was overcome with the sensation that I was eating pure wood. I had a custard cone which was alright but nothing to write home about. Five Guys is 5 times better the Freddys! Something tells me I wont be eating at this place again for a year or two. I like the décor and the burgers but the fries are a deal killer for sure.

Freddy's is very Culver-esque but I agree the fries are bad. They need at least an option of "fat fries" or crinkle fries. The ones I had seemed almost like warmed up shoestring fries from a can!

I like them too, but there aren't too many fries that I shy away from....

Speaking of Freddy's, the next Omaha location has been selected. Some of you will be surprised where it ends up and what they do to fit it in.

Freddy's fries are fine, but I in general prefer crinkle cut, so Culver's has a bit of an edge over Freddy's.

I do wonder if they will make it on 72 & Military. Sonic didn't make it and was just a block away. Now I prefer Freddys and realize you can go in and sit down but similar menu and Sonic even has more food choices with breakfast as well. But I hate to see it fail. That is where Chic Fil A should have went. Would have been a goldmine! For some reason they are stalling on the by Target blocks north. Wonder why? Personally I don't think it is all that great of an idea by kfc. Just my 2 cents

Freddy's on Military

Post by Jimmyd »

Is this still what is being built on the old Ames bank land? I wonder if it will make it as Sonic was just across the street a few years ago. Although they screwed up every time I went there ,it was definitely poorly managed. But not much difference and with no breakfast. I like Freddy's and wish them well.

What side of dodge is the 74th location? I cant picture any free lots in that area unless they are building in the Hobby Lobby parking lot.

Methinks someone has confused the 75th & Dodge Chick-fil-a with an imaginary Freddy's on 74th & Dodge? Brad?

Well you thought wrong!

Its right next to the Sushi Restaurant. The building where the Chineese Buffet was, they tore down the western part of it and built a Frddy's. You walk out of the Sushi Restaurant and you are staring right at a Freddy's

I posted photos of the demo in the 74th and Dodge thread forever ago.

EDIT:

Here is the photo from the other thread. Freddy's is right here now where the dirt is. This photo was taken from the front of the Sushi Restaurant.

Thanks. I was picturing Pier One, the auction place, music store, and Longhorn only.
