the1wags and I stopped by Dinker's on Monday.  Cool Place, Cool Atmosphere.

As far as the burgers.  Good, Huge, but not quite sure about "best".  Mine was a bit dry, but I was told that was very unusual.  I am not saying it was bad, and I will definitely eat there again.  I had the haystack, 2/3+ lbs meat, Fried Egg, Ham, Cheese!  I scheduled my angioplasty for Thursday.

Now "best" onion rings in town... that could be!  Homemade and Delicious!

By the way... I eat a lot and the double burger was too much for me and they have a triple!

Current Issue of Food and Spirit Magazine http://www.fsmomaha.com/ has a Omaha burger review.  I can't remmeber all 5's reviews, but they were

B&G
Stella's
Danny's
Dinker's

I think Danny's and Dinker's had the best reviews.

Nichole Aksamit, OWH wrote:You'll soon be able to get your burger fix a little later at Dinker's Bar & Grill. The eatery will keep its kitchen open until 10 p.m., an hour later than usual, Monday through Saturday starting on Tuesday. Manager Kerry Mumm said that with bar closing hours pushed to 2 a.m., patrons have been coming in later for food, too. The bar now has free Wi-Fi access and a new website (dinkersbar.com) and is adding a few ongoing nightly specials to go with its new hours: $1.50 tacos and 40-cent wings on Mondays and Wednesdays, $7.95 flatiron steak specials on Tuesdays, $1.75 cheeseburger sliders on Thursdays, and $7 French dips on Fridays.

Smashburger/Fatburger/Five Guys/Local Burgers

Post by NovakOmaha »

So I have now tried smashburger, fat burger and five guys.  Hold a gun to my head & I'd pick five guys.  I tried smashburger last week, a burger with pepperjack cheese.  It had zero taste.  If I was in Omaha I'd go to Jam's, Louie M's or mu buddy Rick Fox's Julio's well before I'd go to any of the chains.  I just don't see the attraction and the difference in price.  Why does a burger & fries at five guys have to cost almost $10?  Is it the free peanuts?

Give me the above local joints any time.  I'm already looking forward to the trip to Omaha the first weekend in May.  Thinking a Julio's Queso Burger.  Sloppy but tasty!

I absolutely agree, although I had Burger Star for the first time a couple of weeks ago and Im hooked.  I have eaten there once a week ever since.

The burger is good and they butter and toast the bun.  They let you decide how to put the thing together.  The fried onions are my favorite topping.

Stellas is good, but I prefer Louie M's.

Quit going to 5 guys due to grease and expense issues.   Smashburger is tasteless and noisy.   Agree that these upscale chains just have no place in a city like ours.

The Bellevue Smashburger was a Flash in the Pan Burger.  They have closed.

There are too many local joints in town that put out a delicious burger and fries for about $6-7 to warrant going to ANY of the chains.

Smash fries are the best.  Smash burgers are meh.  I've never had a Stella's.

I'm convinced that the Omaha Five Guys franchisee has made it a point to cram as many tables and chairs into their locations, making them nearly impossible to walk around in.

Burger Star is much better now than when they opened. I have never been impressed with the burgers at Goldbergs, Louie M's or Dinkers to be honest. I still think the best traditional burger in the Metro is Stella's. The best "gourmet" burger is at Spencers - it is awesome and it's only 6 bucks before 6pm (including fries).

Louie M's is good.  Not sure about the best.

I had the old stand by today.... The "Double Don" from Don and Millie's
I've been to both Dinkers and Burger Lust.  I like them both.  But I like Stella's better.

IT has been closed for quite a while.  Per this thread there is a possibility that a second location for Burger Star going there as mentioned by Grow Omaha

Haven't had the others on the Beef Council list, but Tommy C's makes a great burger.  Does this poll need an update or what?

Huh? She's owned Stella's for at least 5 years now and I believe she's close to 30. Exactly how OLD are you?   :;):
