Who makes the best? I will add to the poll as suggested.

Can't go wrong with any of them, but I really like Arby's curly fries.

Commercialized would be Arby's, and for made-on-site is Bronco's.

Jam's though I haven't been there in over a year, Runza for fast-food-regular-ol' fries, 5 Guys for serving a mountain of them, Louie M's although it's been a few years...

I agree---they have good fries.

I know they're new to the area, but I love 5-Guys' fries---made from 'never frozen' whole potatoes (skins included) cooked in peanut oil.  Throw on a little malt vinegar---french-fry nirvana.  The only downside----they give you enough for 3 people.

for fast food, I have stupid love for McDonald's fries with copious amounts of prepackaged bbq sauce.

otherwise, Lazlo's comes to mind.

None of those choices hold a candle to Dario's in Dundee!  Love the lemon mayo sauce with the frites.

At Dario's they are not french fries.  They are pommes frites.

And they are très magnifique.

Seriously, their croque-madame with pommes frites is the single best sandwich and fries combo in Omaha.  I'm there once a month for it.  It's actually worth the drive that far west. :;):

I can't remember all the good fries I have had in town, but non of them were at crappy |expletive| national chain restaurants.  Its a dis-service to Omaha to have national chain restaurants on that list!

I can't remember were, but I want to say M's, Dundee Dell, or Goldbergs had good ones.

I like Runza's crinkle cut fries... I also like fries in general more since suddenly getting the revelation to dip them in ranch sauce rather than ketchup (yeah, I know... that much more fat).

Mayo is the only way to go with greazy, salty fries.

Or Arby's Horsey sauce.

Speaking of, people will eat something called "Horsey Sauce", but would not eat "Horseradish Sauce".  Odd.

Fox and Hound

and I agree with Brad... what a travesty to include fast food franchise dumps like Burger King in this list.

It's no more of a dump than Runza and that seems to be the crowd favorite. A fry is a fry, imo.

The fries that I remember as being particularly tasty were, surprisingly, at La Casa on Leavenworth. This was some time ago, however.

Since we don't have Nathan's here in Omaha, the area is particularly fry-challenged! :)

I used to love Don and Millie's fries, but I haven't been there in so long. I probably hate them now.

We ate at 5 Guys the day after Thanksgiving.  Huge burgers and enormous amounts of french fries.  I would give the place a B - on price, a B+ for value, a B- for atmosphere, and a B - for quality.  The burger was overcooked and the fries were incredibly greasy.

As far as this ff poll, the problem is that many voters haven't eaten at half of the places listed.  So what you have is quantity winning out over quality.  The poll doesn't make much sense in light of that.  There are Runzas all over town, but how many of you have eaten at more than half of the places listed?  I have eaten fries at all except 2 of the places listed, so my vote is a qualified one.  Only those who have eaten at all the places listed should have the final say.

For what it is worth, Pepperjax has really good fries, better than most of the places listed in the poll.  I would also move Dinker's and Louie M's up high on the list.

Gee whiz... we're talking french fries... not pancetta spiedini... I think it's safe to assume MOST of us here have eaten at nearly all of these restaurants.
