Blanc Burgers + Bottles(Midtown Crossing)
Email from Midtown Crossing wrote:FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Omaha, Neb. – Blanc Burgers + Bottles, a gourmet burger restaurant

currently located in Kansas City’s upscale Country Club Plaza, among other

locations, will say hello to their new home in Omaha, Nebraska having

committed recently to Midtown Crossing at Turner Park. An opening date is

scheduled for late August.

Owned and operated by Circle Restaurant Group, the restaurant, known for

its modern and sleek décor, will feature 3,700 square feet of prime space

on Farnam Street near Turner Boulevard. Ernesto Peralta, owner of Circle

Restaurant Group, and his team will serve their signature epicurean

burgers, salads, an assortment of fries and a wide selection of bottled

beer and wine.

“Ernesto and his staff  have put an incredibly unique twist on the

tried-and-true-favorite, the American hamburger,” said Ken Cook, President

of East Campus Realty, the Mutual of Omaha subsidiary that owns Midtown

Crossing development. “They have a great concept and execute it flawlessly.

This is one of those restaurants that will bring huge energy and character

to the Omaha area.  Blanc has many loyal fans, and I count myself among

them.  I couldn’t be more thrilled they’ve chosen Midtown Crossing for

their Omaha location.”  Blanc Burgers + Bottles is part of the Circle

Restaurant Group based in Prairie Village, Kansas.

Yay... another place to eat and drink at Midtown Crossing...

Seriously, though, this place sounds like a great addition. And there's still plenty of retail space to be occupied by actual retail and services, which are the announcements I'm REALLY looking forward to.

Looks like MTC is attracting a decent amount of "imports" from KC. Pretty awesome.

Haven't been to Blanc, but I'm biased because I enjoyed Uno, which Blanc replaced.  I just don't see another burger place to be a big deal.

Now, if one of the big KC BBQ joints decides to come up I-29, I'll be excited.  (If you are reading, Oklahoma Joes or Fiorella's, consider this a standing invitation!)

It'd be nice to have a badass BBQ shack in MTC.

Exciting.  I only hope that not all eateries/bars are too upscale and will require reservations to get in.  They need to balance the restaurants out to attract all customers.  Chef Burger in the P&L district in KC is a good example.  It's basic, quick, but still worth the money and within walking distance to the heart of the development.  That way if you are checkin it out and don't want to pay $26 for lunch, you don't have to.

KC BBQ -- Now THAT would be awesome, but probably not a good enough fit for MTC.

We were in KC last weekend and walked in to look around blanc burgers + bottles.  It definitely is white.  And stylish in a minimalistic sort of way.  I hear the food is very good, but we ate at McCormick and Schmick's instead.  Not sure if that was the best idea as it turned out, but M&S is just an awesomely beautiful place.

It looks like all of the interior work is finished (actually, it probably has for the past 4-8 weeks).  I've seen people inside conducting meetings this week, and there's a "Now Hiring" sign on the door.

I drove past last night around 8 and they appeared to be having a friends & family night. Looks pretty cool inside. They had high top tables in addition to normal ones.

They were serving food to a crowd inside yesterday at lunch too.  I've seen a lot of people and activity there for the last week, training and getting ready.

I wish them well.  I look forward to trying them out.
But gosh, it isn't like this is the Second Coming.  It's a burger place.  How many good ones do we already have here in the metro?  Dozens.

Went for lunch. I would recommend getting one of the lunch combos that have one of 4 burgers with fries. For the price, definitely worth it for that combo. It is, however, an expensive lunch proposition to get one of the non-combo burgers at lunch. Most run $10+ and just have the sandwich. I honestly don't know if the burger I had was $3 better than the burger and fries I could have had at the Crescent Moon. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, but it just won't be a weekly lunch stop for me.

I actually ended up eating here tonight.

Good bison burger.  A bit expensive since as others have pointed out, its just the price of the burger is 10+ plus.

Myself and my girlfriend's total tab was 29 bucks or so.  1 soda, 1 water, 1 thing of cheese fries and 2 burgers.

Finally Checked out Blanc on Sunday.  Great food!  I had the Au Pivore Burger that Big E recommended, plus we had the sweet potato fries.

The big Score of the night was this Dry Hopped Barely Wine (Beer with 10% Alcohol).  It was called Hog Heaven and made by Avery Brewing.  Unfortunately Avery pulled out of Nebraska for now and I got the second to last bottle.

I really wish I had my real camera for this pic, but only had the cell phone...

I had mentioned I wasn't too impressed with this place, wanted to be a little more specific.

Started out with Calamari with Lemon-Lime aioli dipping sauce.  The aioli dipping sauce had WAY to much lemon zest or fresh squeezed lemon in it, to the point where you couldn't even taste the calamari anymore.  I got the Au Poivre burger, the burger meat was pretty good as well as the carmelized onion.  Pretty much for what it costs to eat there the food is not worth it.  The one thing I was really happy about was that they had Boulevard Tank 7.

God, I hope not.  I mean their chef is even being featured in Omaha's new ad campaign soon.  Wouldn't be great to highlight a closed restaurant  :?.

What good is creativity if the execution sucks?

I might be the only one here happy to see it go,    but most should concede the following.  The food was overpriced and mediocre with quite possibly the worst fries I've ever had (and ala carte at that) all set against the back drop of a depressingly antagonistic orange/white decor that may have better suited for an oncology clinic cafeteria or the commissary at Home Depot's corporate offices.

Big E, I'd suggest you venture further up the street for a burger at Tommy C's.
