I just checked and they have gotten 252 out of the 250 they needed. So hopefully there will be an announcement soon.

Received some info on the We Don't Coast plates:
We’ve officially hit our 250 We Don’t Coast license plate pre-orders and received the required 250 DMV forms to move forward!

Final art has been submitted to the state for approval. The initial design required minor adjustments to meet legal technical specifications. After the artwork has been approved, you will receive notification from the DMV when your plates are ready to be picked up at your local DMV location.

Thank you for all your support!

I'm just wondering if anyone in Omaha still sees 1 County plates from time to time?

If you do they are personalized plated. As I am sure you know all 1, 2, & 59 county plates went to the Alpa / number plates. There are a couple that I see around Gretna that still show the old 59-XXXX but they are paid for as personalized plates.

I still see some 2 plates here in Lincoln. And I've even seen a few 1s and 59s. Sarpy didn't like to stack their 59 code. But personally, I think it's unique. :;):

I've often wondered how a modern-day stacked flat 59 code would look. And I think I have a pretty good idea.

UNO hit 250 and will be on the streets!

http://www.unomaha.edu/news/uno-speciality-plates.php
UNO has collected the 250 applications required by the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles, meaning the plates will soon go into production.

Since the plates were announced in Oct. 2015, students, alumni, faculty, and staff have submitted applications. On Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, Chancellor John Christensen’s family turned in the last three applications needed to make the plates a reality.

“There is a lot of UNO pride in this community, and people are excited about these plates,” said Emily Poeschl, UNO’s director of Marketing. “I can’t wait to see them on the street.”

Those who turned in applications will receive a letter from the DMV with the date their plate will be available to pick up. The target date is the first week of January.

The plates will also soon be available for purchase via the DMV website or a paper application, which can be picked up and returned to any DMV location.

I received notification from Sarpy County that my UNO plates will be ready for pickup after December 25th, 2016. Exciting!

For a few years, I've wondred this. If Sarpy County residents were given a choice at the DMV or online between the stacked 59 code and the standard one, which format do you think they'd choose to put on their license plates?

What's the current protocol for Sarpy County? I see plates with the "59" now and then but it's not enough that makes me think that "59" is standard issue for Sarpy residents. Not sure why I see a handful of vehicles with the "59" on their plates?

The few "59" plates are personal plates. All Sarpy plates are the XXX XXX just like Douglas and Lancaster. Not sure but Dealer plates may say 59.

If you go to the DMV you will find that when selecting a message plate you are given the option of "1" "2" or "59" as a message format that you can fill out and request.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Sarpy residents applying for a specialty plate and given a choice between the standard 59 code or the stacked 59.

Looks like the Omaha Zoo just got enough signatures to get there specially plate

Overall I like the plate with the excetion of the name in the bottom center. It looks like they just did this on a label printer and stuck it on.

No, for an extra $70 anyone can have them. Just like the Union Pacific, Cougar, Beef State, Creighton, UNO, plates.

If not for the Henry Doorly Zoo name on the plate, the reactions to this plate from out of towners would be hilarious.

I'm loving these new cougar/Wildcat Hills ones. They are pretty popular. I think it is a good reminder to us in the eastern half how different the western half is.

I am betting that the Mountain Lion plate popularity has much more to do with it is only a $5 adder for a non-message plate vs. a lot more for almost all the other options.

The new Husker plates clearly didn’t go through any sort of real-world testing before going to production. The plates are nearly impossible to read from 20 feet out. Makes me wonder if they’ll end up eventually recalling the plates or updating the design…

The doubled down on these too..

YOu can't tell unless you know that they are HUSKER specialty plates.
YOu cannot read the plate number unless you are a few feet away.

By far the worst of the specialty plate issued off all ever issue in Nebraska. With the Creighton and UNO plates coming on mid cycle I expected the new UNL plate wound follow this same style, but no they come up with this.

I don't think it would be too hard, you only need 250 people to get them.

The Husker plates are the worst, but there are plenty of horrible ones all of a sudden. South Dakota comes to mind.

This one is damn near illegible at 70 MPH: https://www.ok.gov/tax/images/NatWeatherCenter.jpg
