Mobile payment options
Square, Intuit Go, or Paypal Mobile... Anyone have any experience with any of those mobile payment services? If so, are there any drawbacks? I've heard some bad things about Square holding people's funds for over 90 days because of "unusual activity", and it happens often, I guess.
Other than that, just looking for some feedback if anyone has used them. thanks

Re: Mobile payment options
I use Paypal Mobile and am happy with it. Â I have only had problems with two transactions, but I suspect its my older android and not Paypal. Â I know lots of artists use Square and they are all really happy with it. Â My Co-op (Old Market Artists Gallery) is going to get a squared for the summers arts festival.S33 wrote:Square, Intuit Go, or Paypal Mobile... Just like the this forum. Â Way more people complain about what they don't like instead of supporting what they do like. Â Very sad...S33 wrote:good to hear. Of course all the reviews you see online are negative. (the happy customers don't usually submit reviews)
Honestly, I have an HTC EVO from Sprint. Â I have had 2 transactions not work out because of whatever. Â I have a friend with an iphone and it works 100% of the time. Â The Paypal needs to access your location with the GPS for security.

Yeah, I've basically ruled out paypal because this is needed for very rural transactions. So, there will be times none work at all, I guess. Either way, this will at least cut down on messing around with personal checks.

PayPal mobile would also require the payer and payee both have a PayPal account, no?
I think Square would play well with the ubiquity of credit cards.
Although, I'm continually amazed by the number of small businesses that still operate on fax and check books only, without email or ACH of any kind.

No, with Paypal they are set up to let you take a physical Credit Card as payment for a face to face sale. YOu can also key in all the card info and run the transaction that way for a phone sale or whatever. Â Hasn't always been this way. Your accout has to be set up correctly and you have the hardware for your phone or whatever else you may use. The buyer does not need to have any Paypal acount to do this.

Why would PP be any better or worse that others based on a very rural location? Â What am I missing?

If you are doing rural locations, I would go with Verizon. I have sprint now and sprint is horrible! I always had reception out in the sandhills with Verizon.

It all depends on where you are at. Â Last summer we were in the black hills and traveled back through Western Nebraska. Â There were MANY placed that my Verizon phone nad no service for miles on end while my wifes Sprint Iphone worked well enough to even use the internet.

Brad had mentioned something about it requiring GPS available on smart phone, which I think can only work in 3G areas. But, you're right, I guess none of these options are working without 3G (I assume).nebugeater wrote:Why would PP be any better or worse that others based on a very rural location? Yeah, Verizon is hit or miss with me. In Iowa, I have great luck with Chat Mobility. Then, in Nebraska, I use a Verizon phone. You'd think in 2013, it wouldn't matter which carrier, they'd all have blanket coverage.Brad wrote:If you are doing rural locations, I would go with Verizon. My distributor still requires fax for invoices and other documents. I didn't even own a fax machine, and felt like I was in Office Space when I went in to buy one.

Fax machines tend to be a simple way to semi-securely send a document. Who wants to deal with the hassle of password protecting an attachement or setting up/implementing PGP encryption on your email message? Â Plus, there are probably legal reasons why fax machines are still used over email until the court system evolves.
