I look at 108th between Q and L a lot. I saw that they updated their imagery again. This time the imagery is from October. At 108th and M, they've extended the left turn lanes for westbound L Street. You can no longer make left turns at 108th and M. That intersection, at least I think so, is somewhat of a crucial one because of what's there. The Best Western, Super 8 and Village Inn. Now how is northbound traffic on 108th supposed to get to the hotels? And how is southbound traffic supposed to get to Village Inn?

Northbound traffic can turn West on John Galt and there's a little access road that cuts through to M. Southbound traffic can turn East on O and either cut through the Bucky's parking lot, or turn left on 107th Ave and that'll take you right to the Village Inn. No big deal either way. You see worse access issues on W. Dodge.

They've brushed up the architectural detailing of silhouettes of many buildings across the city.

Looking for SHP Files for Nebraska. Iowa publishes them for anyone to use. Just wondering if Garret or any one has a the SHP files for the Interstate's and Major Highways in Nebraska.

I need them for that Map I have been working on in the Brewery Thread. While it looks plain and boring, its actually made with SHP files in AutoCAD.

I have one that has every highway in Nebraska, but that may be overkill.

Awesome Thanks. Overkill is fine, I can thin it out once I get it in my drawing.

Thanks Again!

I can pare them down fairly easily if you tell me which highways you want.

Does anyone know how often they update the satelite photos? The Hyatt Place still shows as a hole in the ground.

I'm not really sure how they decide what image to use for google maps. Google Earth has 2 or 3 newer images showing the completed hotel.

That area of town uses older satellite imagery in Maps because of the 3D buildings.

However if you hit the clock, you can go to the newest image which is 10/14/14 and the building is done and open...

I'm sure the answer to this is in here somewhere, but,
Does Google maps allow you to view older images of Omaha?
How do you toggle between Years? Which years do they have?
What I am really trying to do is overlay an old image of Aksarben on top of a modern image of Aksarben Village... Thanks

The DOGIS site also has older Basemap images you can choose from including 1941, 1962, 1993, 1998, 2001, 2004, 2010, and 2013.

The 1962 image looks like it is shifted 1 block north, since the old bridge across the river was on Douglas, not Dodge. It shows up correct in the 1941 image. It's interesting looking at how many smaller buildings were demo'd on the 4 blocks where GLM is now. Omaha has lost a heck of a lot of the urban density it once had....for better or worse.

It's nice to see the completed work of the collector/distributor lane for eastbound I-80 at L Street. They still have the same 55+ year-old bridges for I and L Streets over I-80 intact.
