Very great loss.
I was lucky enough to finally see him live a few years back.
These are not the best shots I admit. They kinda forced the groupie section off toward stage right, so as to not block the view of the high roller seats. They were also policing cameras, and they were stopping anyone using anything that could do video or anyone using any kind of fancy camera. I had the little Olympus P&S with me and they let me shoot with it.

Saw him 9 years ago at Sioux City's free concert in the park and constantly listen to him on road trips, this is a huge loss.
Re: RIP Vol. II
Sometimes it takes a while before someone's passing reminds you of their influence and importance. The first blues record I'd heard was way back in the late 1950's or early 60's----'Please Love Me' by B.B. King---my uncle was a radio station disc jockey and he gave most of his "not for sale" promotional 45's to my older teenage siblings. I don't know if that scenario started me on the path to becoming an amateur music geek/musician, but I had a love of music (especially Rock, Blues, Jazz and R&B) from a very early age. It dawned on me recently how important B.B. King was, not just to the Blues, but to popular music in general. Most of the music we listen to today would not exist without the likes of King, Elmore James, Jimmy Rogers, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and others who laid the groundwork for what followed. I've had the pleasure of seeing him perform twice; once in the 70's and another around 1990. I've also met and had a short conversation with him about 10 years ago (job related, believe it or not), and I can honestly say that he's one of the nicest celebrities I've met.
