Cooperative Identity in the Metro

Post by icejammer »

Nice piece in today's op/ed page of the OWH by the president's of the respective chambers; hopefully we will see this attitude becoming more and more prevalent in the entire metro:

Omaha, Bluffs boast cooperative identity
Do you ever think about Minneapolis without St. Paul? Or Dallas without Fort Worth? Or Raleigh without Durham?

These cities' identities have become linked to the extent that they're one inseparable brand - but each with a distinct culture and identity. The regions they represent thrive because they see themselves as a single economic unit.

Metropolitan areas across the country that realize this work together and prosper. ....

That is precisely the view we share at the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce and the Council Bluffs Area Chamber of Commerce. We believe that it is outdated to see Omaha and Council Bluffs as two cities in two states separated by the Missouri River. Indeed, we are two cities, with distinct characteristics that make each one unique. We also have many things in common.
(hopefully that wasn't too much quote to post)
"Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved."
