I personally love this new style. Thanks guys for your hard work on upgrading the site!

One minor thing I've noticed is that the favorite icon (O!) is no longer there.

When you click on "view unread posts", all threads with new posts will appear in red with an icon Image next to it. That icon will take you to the first unread post in that thread.

Hey, beats the heck out of replacing the buttons all the time!

I noticed that when you are not logged in you do not see the Birthday Footer:

And until today we didn't have anyone to wish a Happy Birthday, so, Happy Birthday Tuna!

We are continuing to streamline the header, getting rid of frivolous links.
Now if there is a new post or a new Private Message it will be highlighted in red.
Again, you only have to cluck on View new posts, an the icon next to the thread title will get you to your first unread post.

I like how the Happy Birthday greeting is "Congratulations."

We have found database issues with this transfer from phpBB 2 to 3, particularly with the search database. We just rebuilt it and we were able to search a certain word back to Feb of 2004!

Also, you probably haven't noticed, but we have pruned close to 5000 users from our rolls thanks to Brad. Almost all of these were Spammers. We are still trying to install the most up to date Spam Prevention Mods to our forums, none are fail safe, but we are getting better at trapping bots and spammers.

I'm very impressed with the new look. Great work from everyone involved. I felt like I was in the dark with the site down, but the wait was well worth it. Thanks.

Hopefully the search function works a little better than with the old board, so I don't have to switch over to Google as often.

After deleting all the obvious spammers, you know the ones with Russian websites listed as their website, I literally went through every account that was created after 2010 and checked their info to see if they were legit. If I figured they were legit, I added an "Omaha Metro Area" to their location. If I think there were legit but not positive, the location says "Omaha - ??" Feel Free to change the location to whatever you want, that was just my way of keeping track of where I was on the member list. I have still be working on the 2010 and older, but I am not as aggressive on it since most of the spammers came after 2010.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Is there any way to set outside links to auto-open in a new tab? I vaguely remember this being the default in the old setup, but everytime I click anything since the upgrade, I get directed away from the forum, in the same IE tab (and don't ask why IE, its a work laptop, I would not be in the dark ages if it was my computer).

I don't know if anybody else is seeing this, but the Post Reply icon using a desktop browser seems to be the wrong size. The icon will move whenever I mouse over it.

I saw a forum recently that removed the following Items from the user profile:

ICQ number:
AOL Instant Messenger:
WL/MSN Messenger:
Yahoo Messenger:
Jabber address:

And replaced them with Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Etc. Is that piossible here?

I am not even sure what an ICQ number is, but I know all the spammers seem to have them. Not sure what Jabber is either.

Yes it is. I have seen other forums that have different social media contacts, but they come and go so fast. One day MySpace was the in thing, now it's almost forgotten. LinkedIn is more formal business contacts,,, maybe we need a poll to see what eOmaha people use more often.

Ok, cool. It just looked like the icon was getting chopped off. If that's how it's supposed to be, then no big deal.

I used ICQ with a few friends about 10 years ago, but it seems it died off. The number is your user name basically. Jabber is the same as XMPP which Google Talk and Facebook Chat uses. I have them in Pidgin since I like all in one messengers.

ICQ is an instant messaging client that started in the mid 1990's. It predates AOL Instant Messenger, but the AOL product obviously became more popular.

I think I have installed a MOD that opens links in a new tab. We are still working the bugs out, but it looks like it is working now.

I just tried it, and it appears that it is still directing away from the forum in the same tab.

I forgot to mention. All posts prior to this MOD install will play by the old rules, new posts after this install (see my post in the Sports forum) will follow the new rules.

I don't know if this is a side feature of a mod, but if you hover your mouse over a thread link, a window pops up with the first and most recent post. The two might be out of context on longer threads, but if you're just skimming your unread list, it might be helpful.

I forgot to mention I put that MOD in a while back. Yes, it is much better on newer threads than those that are 5-10 pages long.

Sorry about today's outage. It was only supposed to last a few minutes, but it seems our server had more to handle than they thought.
