I was in Kansas City for an extended weekend about a month ago (the weekend when it was tres muggy!) and I remember the prices were lower there than in Omaha. Looking at the "heat map" today (http://www.omahagasprices.com/Price_By_County.aspx) there's a definite hot spot in Kansas City proper for some reason, with Kansas City showing a shade hotter than Omaha, even with our recent price jump. I have not seen this before either. St. Joseph is still cheaper.

While most stations in the Omaha area are $2.05, the ones off of the S 24th St in CB are still only $1.89 as of yesterday.

The three stations at the south 24th. exit in CB still seem to be competitive.

Everything I saw on the morning drive today was over $2.

Either that Murphy's Express is not making any money on gas, or all the other stations are making more than they like to admit. I live nearby. It took one day after them being open for the BP to lower their price.

A few months ago I forgot to post a report about how the gas prices would peak at $2.85 in June, but I have been watching the prices fall to $2.05 around tow. Now I read this today:

http://www.cnbc.com/2017/06/27/fourth-of-july-travelers-will-see-cheapest-gas-prices-in-12-years-gasbuddy-says.html
Drivers on the road this Fourth of July holiday will see the cheapest gas prices since 2005, according to a GasBuddy report on Tuesday.

Yep, that is the market analysts for ya. They are about as accurate as weather men. Usually we get the story at least 3-4 times per year about there being a surprise surplus of millions of barrels of crude. Then a month later suddenly we have a shortage, causing prices to skyrocket. It is all about speculation.

Funny thing is, there is a Kum&Go on the Fairview exit off of Hwy 75, they are always one of the first stations to raise their prices in the whole area. Yesterday morning they raised it to $2.19 but by the afternoon, it was back down to $2.05.

It took a couple days longer than I expected, but here they go...
$.12 up at most places I've seen so far, $2.34

Those of us that don't do the corn gas have been paying around 2.35 for the past few months or more. Whats weird is the corn gas for years was at a standard rate of about 10 cents less then pure gas....then in the past year they changed the standard rate from 10 cents to 30 cents.

What are you smoking. 10% Ethanol blend is still on av 0.10 less than non ethanol. The 15% blend is about another 0.05 - 0.07 less where you can find it. The 85% is much less but I do not pay as close of attention to that. I burn the 10% all the time and always note the difference. I have used the 15% a few times and do not see any drop of my mileage from the 10% but it is not at the places that I normally fuel up.

We use no alcohol gas for the small engines and mowers on the farm, and the guy that owns the dump truck stop at the interchange charges $.50/gallon more for 87 non-ethanol gasoline.

I've been burning e85 in one of my cars for about 9 years now. The current spread in prices (it's usually wider in summer) is a treat. Yesterday the spread was 90 cents between e85 and e10. At that price, my mileage has to be more than 10 mpg greater with e10 for e10 to be the better deal at the pump. And my car gets 4 mpg less with e85. Filled my tank with e85 yesterday for just over $27. Would have been over $40 with e10 and higher yet with pure gasoline. Whatever floats your boat I guess, but it makes a happier day for me. I wish someone would make a hybrid with a flex-fuel engine. Although I suppose the days are numbered for internal combustion engines no matter the configuration.

Meanwhile across the River it finally has dropped $.07 to $2.42 in most places.

Those three stations have been the most competitive in the area for some time now.

I keep letting my HyVee fuel saver points build up and fill my tank every other week at a discount. I haven’t paid full price at a pump locally in nearly 2 years :) ...

I had a feeling with oil prices tanking the past week or so, gas might finally fall some. Still feel like it is pretty high for this time of year, but .20 in week or so is awesome.
