Rumors have circulated for years that he had aids. He caught aids back in the 90's (he was legendary for leading a horridly crazy reckless stupid sexual lifestyle) and has been taking meds to fight it for years. He believed divine intervention had cured him in the past two years so he had quit taking his aids drugs and the aids had taken over his body again. They are doing an autopsy today so we might know soon enough and then again they might try to cover it up to protect his reputation.

Watching TV news shows will be unbearable for the next few days as they beat this story to death that many of us could care less about. Wake me up when its over. :hammer:

AIDS was the first thing I thought of. Wouldn't surprise me. But then any cause of death won't surprise me

I'm kind of surprised about the amount of "lead story" coverage this is getting, even on local news shows. But he was a musical genius and a great showman, so I really shouldn't be surprised, since he's deserving. I always liked his 1999 album....I'll have to hook-up the turn table again and give it a listen. It's nice to have the non-stop coverage of Trump pushed aside for a while, even though it's sad.

The wall to wall coverage is crazy. It reminds me of when Michael Jackson died. Shrouded in mystery!

He'll long be remembered for what he didn't leave behind more than what he did leave behind, by some.

It was a bad situation all around. You wonder if Harper had any regrets about Jobber's Canyon later on. Reading the OWH article about him, it's clear he did like the Omaha community. He took that RJR job in New York but only if he could keep his residence in Omaha. I think that makes it a little harder to be so tough on the guy. Harper could of moved ConAgra like the current CEO? Omaha and downtown is probably off better than it would have been otherwise. It's just too bad the renovation of old structures wasn't as popular back then as it is today.

I think if he did have any regrets, he wasn't the type who would let it be known. No doubt he was a great benefit to many people in Omaha. The saddest part is we could have had Jobbers AND ConAgra downtown if he wasn't so stubborn. It seems Daub was in only one in the OWH article who acknowledged it was controversial to give Harper everything he wanted. But, let Harper have his praise now that he's gone.

The smarter Sarah Palin of her day. Feminism was starting to decay, and a lot of women and men were beginning to question the validity of it. Into that vacuum entered Ms Schlafly. Had it not been for the environment of the late 70s and early to mid 80s, she would have been much less prominent.

Blagh. Again, while I don't care to rejoice in the death of people, the ideas of this woman were flat out repulsive.
