Put Shirley in a home, and the entire membership of that church is back to normal. I don't know what exactly it is that groups of people can be subjected to, causing them to co-sign for that crazy sh*t, but I guarantee they can snap right out of it.

Whatever god, deity, or religion to whom you pray, Fred Phelps is in a better place. (Protesting his own funeral)

She's not even the main spokesperson anymore. Most of Fred's kids and their spouses are pretty far gone, but I think a lot of their kids have a chance. Several of them have escaped at this point.

Fred and Shirley were always the keystones to that insanity. Without them, the there really is nobody to carry the torch. In fact, when the kids are interviewed, they seem completely normal, until you start asking them about religion.

Don Pardo. If you don't recognize the name, you will recognize the voice if you watched SNL or any of various 1960s game shows.

At some point I recall him signing off from SNL by saying, "This is Don Pardo saying... This is Don Pardo saying Goodniiiiight." I cant find it anywhere recorded online. Does anyone recall this, even better, know a link so I can hear it again with my own ears?

I also thought that he had retired from SNL but that they had actually found a sound alike replacement. On Mike and Mike this morning they were acting like he was working up til this year. Anyone know?

He was working till the end from what I understand. DIdn't live in NY but flew in for each show as I heard reported for this entire season and many before.

If I remember this correctly, the replacement did not work out and he actually came out of retirement for a while to resume the SNL gig. This was several years ago.

I heard multiple reports that in all the years he only missed ONE SNL broadcast and it was out of his control. If there was a repalcment that didn't work out it must have been between season that the replacement came and went to not have him miss any more than the one.

Interesting. I definitely missed that he came back. That makes it a bigger loss knowing that they hadn't found a good similar replacement!
