Was never a big fan in his heyday (late 60's, early 70's), but I think "Wichita Lineman", for my taste anyway, is one of the most perfect pop tunes ever written. R.I.P..
Was never a big fan of Barbara Cook either (died yesterday), but she had, I think, one of the purest singing voices on the planet.
No matter if you like his music or not take a couple of hours and watch this sometime. This is his story about the struggle with Alzheimers and his last tour when he and the family knew what he was dealing with and where it was headed. Very powerful. I watched it about a year ago and at that time it was on Netflix.

Ok, this post is perhaps premature. Petty is on life support and in grave condition. I jumped the gun when TMZ reported.

Comedian Ralphie May, dead at 45. I remember his first call to TnT. He wasn't so nice that day so TnT ripped him for awhile. It got back to Ralphie, and he sent them some expensive whiskey to apologize. I loved his stuff.
