Check out the website (or not, take my word for it?)...#30, 'beautiful Omaha sunsets'... can't say I've ever seen the sun set in the east, as that's the direction this shot is aimed. :what:

I was thinking the same thing when I saw that. Not that would really be something to write an article on.

This looks like it was taken from the northeast and shot toward the SW, maybe from a bluff in CB?

When I heard that Rounders were back, I was already for bed at 11, with a nice porter in hand. Just that news made me get dressed and drive 25 minutes to satisfy the craving.

You must be looking at a different photo. The #30 shot is looking east-southeast toward a sunrise. The Civic parking garage is west of the Civic and the Woodmen is west of the FNB tower...to name a few clues.

In reality, every big city can have a beautiful sunrise or sunset...not really something that makes Omaha unique. It just depends on where you try to view it from. There are a few calm days too, without any wind. Most other places within hundreds of miles of Omaha can handle snow too, unless you go south of Kansas. I had never heard of Rounders.

The funny thing about this is I've only ever had this in Denver when visiting. Never in Omaha.

When I worked at a gas station, the Mexicans landscapers would always buy that Clamato stuff, which is beer with tomato and clam.

I work at a Hy Vee here... And a lot of people bought Clamato juice. It's an odd thing that I didn't think actually existed when I read about it here, but lo-and-behold, a lot of people seem to enjoy it.

Omaha:

We love our Old Market

We absolutely cherish the College World Series

We are proud of our zoo

Berkshire Hathaway weekend is always fun

We like college sports more than pro sports

We drink a lot

We get offended when people ask where Omaha is

We don't all like the Huskers

Most of us have never seen Chimney Rock (most of us have never been west of Lincoln for that matter)

We do not wear cowboy hats

Most of us appreciate traditional family values and know it's why our kids score so well on the ACT compared to the national average

We don't even know what a rounder is, let alone eat them

We are pro-business

We value Nebraska's agriculture production

Most of us really like our mayor

We appreciate our military and support our police officers
Too much of what is called 'education' is little more than an expensive isolation from reality.

That seems like a lot of sweeping generalizations and opinions.

Which is what most people use when explaining a locale of any kind.
When fortune smiles on something as violent and ugly as revenge, it seems proof like no other that not only does God exist, you're doing his will.

When I briefly moved to LA everyone said to me, "WOW, big change, eh?" It's like they had no idea that Omaha was even a city. In fact with the exception of the ethnic diversity and the uniquely southern California character of there people, most of LA felt a lot like West Omaha between 680 and 72nd street. Same with Dallas when I lived there. It was like a giant west Omaha...not too different at all.
