So the numbers you need to look at are the last one under each state; that is where each state ranks.  Iowa has the 33rd highest tax burden, Nebraska has the 22nd highest in regards to state/fed combined taxes.  I don't know where people were getting their numbers before (saying Nebraska was one of the highest...pfft) but NE and IA are running about in the middle of the pack, give or take a few in each direction.  I'm not going to open the can of worms labeled "taxes and the new ballpark" but seeing something like that just sort of debunks the argument about "already paying too much in taxes, we don't need anymore."  It's a moot point by now, but it still boggles me.

and sorry it's hard to read, the table didn't copy correctly.  Also, i just wanted to add that i, as much as the next guy, hate paying out a lot in taxes, but the stadium would be an additional (and small) tax i wouldn't mind in order to get that sweet stadium.  There, I'm done.
