Four years of increased education, the opening of a second, free health clinic and hundreds of thousands of additional dollars haven't reduced the rate of STDs in the community.
Douglas County's rate of chlamydia — the most common STD reported locally — is 62 percent above the national average, said Adi Pour, Douglas County's health director. The rate of gonorrhea is nearly 40 percent above the national average.
Pour and others urged the Douglas County Board today to join a growing number of groups — private and public — in taking the fight against STDs to the next level, finding new and better ways to reach those who make up the majority of the infected young people between the ages of 15 and 24.
The discussion was general, with few specifics on programs and funding.

May be I am jaded because I work in a bar on the weekends, but to me it seems that there is a lot of male whores and stupid women in this town... Â If either side was half way responsible we might have a lot better numbers.
I would also relate it to the amount of binge drinking that occurs here.
Also, We have the highest restaurants per person and the highest amount of STD's.... am sure that factors in. Â If you have never worked in a restaurant, everyone is doing everyone.

That's exactly right. From everywhere I have been Omaha seems to focus on getting |expletive|*faced rather than just having a few social drinks. Plus, there are alot of whores (male and female).
