Just in case someone is wondering what 'MSA' and 'CSA' stands for, here is a quick fingertip reference:
The CSA stands for Consolidated Statistical Area..A county is added into an MSA (Metroplitan Statistical Area) if 25% of it's county residents commute into the primary county of the MSA..In Omaha's case that, of course, would be Douglas County..The additonal county added into Omaha's 8 county MSA to make it our 9 county CSA is Dodge County..Home to the city of Fremont..

I think there is a VERY good chance the CSA number will register at 900,000 (or slightly larger) once the official 2010 census numbers are tallied..OmahaJaysCU wrote:We are going to be so close to that 900,000 CSA by 2010...so so close...`
These annual estimates given by the US Census Bureau are notorious for being low ball in nature..

i was looking at the excel file with the new listings and i noticed that the first couple years in the 2000's they only estimated omaha barely growing at all?? from 2000-2001 it says we only gained 100 something people.. then the next year we only gained a little less than 2000 people.. now these numbers seem ridiculously low for the growth that i know was happening here in omaha at the time?? i guess omaha gets no respect :/

Yes and I pretty much agree with you..guitarguy wrote:i was looking at the excel file with the new listings and i noticed that the first couple years in the 2000's they only estimated omaha barely growing at all?? from 2000-2001 it says we only gained 100 something people.. then the next year we only gained a little less than 2000 people.. now these numbers seem ridiculously low for the growth that i know was happening here in omaha at the time??

Not to worry though. The Census Bureau fiddles with these estimate numbers quite frequently and they're famous for low-balling the numbers..
Once the official 2010 count tally comes in, I expect Omaha numbers to gain anywhere from 7,000 to up to 20,000 over the latest estimate..

Hey at this rate in 2080 Omaha will be the biggest city in the country, with 12 bazillion people.Erik wrote:For what it's worth..
The Omaha-Council Bluffs is now the 59th largest. It was the 60th in 2000 and 61st in 1990..

Actually, we are very close to passing Albany, NY for #58.
