I've seen this YouTube video. In fact, Brad and I rewatched it a couple days ago..

Other than the fact he's breaking about 15 or so laws, it's a cool video...

I was thinking he was ok as long as he didn't go higher than 400', then he cleared the first national tower & thats like 635 or so, so all bets are off. I'm surprised that the snipers guarding the tower didn't take him out. You'd think they would have antiaircraft on the roof, maybe air to air missiles, drone of their own.

Nice video but from the air the conagra campus is thoroughly unimpressive. Don't get me started on Marina City or jobbers canyon but wow. Mike Harper's dream is completely sleep-inducing.

by the way, i forgot to sign in

This video shows in real life how drastically the density of our CBD needs improvement, and how dramatically under used all the surface lots and parking garages are! But let's build more!

You have to admit, the part where he goes directly over the First National building is pretty sweet.

A friend here who has a very cool very expensive drone checked out the current laws and even with what has been done so far it's still the wild west. If you're in it for a profit it can get dicey but if it's for personal use it's probably ok. Yes there's a 400 foot limit but hard to enforce. From what he says it isn't a high priority. He talked with the Michigan State Patrol among others. What they told him was as long as nobody complains and he isn't in a restricted air space and isn't obvious they don't have the manpower to do much. The main thing is don't have it hover outside your neighbor's windows. They get mad. Also he said regulations CAN vary from state to state and the fed.

Obviously the video wasn't taken with a cheap drone. Great video, especially flying over the First National Tower. Realtors are hot for drones, moreso with expensive homes. There's a guy here who does videos for agents & makes pretty good money. I don't know how many are doing that in Omaha but it would be worth checking out. At the very least you could pay for the drone.

Lots of people here are doing it. Its a very crowded and competitive market.

I couldn't help but think how much utilized deck space there is on top of all of those buildings. There should be a deck on the roof of every one of those buildings.

I was convinced he was breaking the law as well, but in fact, the 400 feet applies to open ground. You're allowed to go over structures, by another 400 feet, within a 400 foot radius.

And as someone alluded to earlier, most of the laws actually apply more to commercial operators (which doesn't really make sense to me... someone takes time to 'certify' and register themselves, and yet they're restricted more).
