Moving to Town and need temporary digs.

Post by James »

I will be relocating to Omaha in the next 6-8 weeks and need a place to stay for a month or two while I seek work and find a permanent home.  There are a few local motels that have low monthly rates like American Inn in Council Bluffs, Rodeway Inn in Bellevue,  and Lake Manawa Motel.  How bad are these places?  Are there any others that have low rates for extended stay guests?

I've known people who've stayed in American Inn and have always had good things to say. I've known people who dealt meth out of it as well. Pretty much the same with Lake Manawa but I think they've cleaned up some the past couple years.

I know nothing of the Rodeway

I think there's also a couple newer 'extended stay' motels in bellevue on 370 and by the casinos in CB but I know nothing about them other than they sound pretty pricey.

good luck!

I know this was shut down for a while by the Board Of {something} for something nasty.

I sometimes fill up at the station just adjacent to this. It looks kinda seedy. I wouldn't want to stay there, particularly medium-long term.

buying makes more sense in Omaha vs. renting

Have you considered buying a place vs. renting when you look for permanent housing.  For a $600/mo mortgage payment you can look for this property on Realtor.com 16859 Fowler Ave, Omaha NE 68116
