Looking at Omaha apartments

Post by Astrosws20 »

Greetings. I'm 27 and moving to Omaha for a job in a couple weeks and I'm looking at apartments. I know nobody in Omaha, but I've already done some research and was wondering if you all could help me out since I've only been to Omaha once briefly. I'm considering moving to Old Market or Southwest Omaha (which is near my new job). Old Market looks great because I'm a bar goer and it looks like a really good fun place to be, but I'm also trying to keep it rather cheap, like around $550-$625 a month and I know Old Market will be at least around the $625 range. I've been looking at Union Plaza and Kensington Towers in Old Market. Are these places any good do you all think.

In Southwest Omaha I'm looking at Thomasville Apartments and Briarwood. I hear Thomasville is really cool, but hear it's nothing but college kids. I don't mind noise much or kids having fun, but I don't want to be the senior citizen of the complex when I go have a beer at the bar they have there. Having a bar on site is pretty cool and a nice way to meet people though if there are some my age. Briarwood seems nice also with a good young professionals crowd, which is nice. Still looking to meet new people and have fun doing it. Love to hit the bars but relax in peace sometimes too. Anybody have any suggestions or know anything good or bad about these complexes and what I can expect out of them? Any other suggestions about Omaha would be great too. Thanks all!

Live downtown and enjoy the scene. I've got friends who live or have lived in both of those towers and they gave positive reviews.

I've lived at Thomasville off and on for about a decade now, I enjoy living here and think you would like it as well. The bar is fun, especially during the summer months, they have a couple pool party's that can get pretty crazy. If you live poolside you might have a problem with party's nearly every night but it seems like it has calmed down a bit over the years. The apartments aren't new so if you'r looking for something new you might want to look elsewhere, although they have been remodeling all the apartments as they become vacant. Also, I pay $620/month for a 1 bedroom with a garage, you won't really find anything cheaper than that in Omaha unless you want to live in a area that is less than nice. Good luck with your apartment search and I hope my input helps.

FYI. My daughter has an all brick townhome 3 blocks from Midtown Crossings on South 33rd Street.  She is wishing to sell it and is asking $82,000.  I is a 2 story with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a galley kitchen, living and dining rooms and a quaint patio in back.  Young marrieds are her neighbors.  She is 29 and married and currently living in Denver with no plans to return to Omaha.  If you take todays current interest rates, your payments would be, including taxes and insurance, around $550.00 a month and you would have something for it when the time comes to move.  If you are interested, please feel free to text me at 402-680-4330.
